Getting shot at during retrieval missions

If a settlement is powered down, doors will not open. If you have a spare power regulator, you can power up the settlement. E-breach's may be required if you cannot scan bodies for security access.

In a Maverick suit, use the laser cuter to cut open the red access panel, then use the energy link tool to overcharge the door.
When at a powered up data port, hover the cursor over it and a small menu appears, select keyboard "E" to reveal the data available.

The menu wheel is usually keyboard "Q". Use the up/down/left/right key to highlight what you want and then hit enter.

Goods are normally found in unlocked lockers, assets in locked ones. Take tech and chemicals from the former, and gasses from the latter along with stuff you need to engineer suits and weapons. Circuits are really common, and non engineering assets can be sild for credits (up to 125,000 in some cases).
Often stuff will be found lying around, so keep your eyes peeled.

There are several third party tools that are useful.
Be aware that some of the data listed is now used for engineer unlocks in Colonia.

Thanks man. I will try this when the situation appears. Maybe do a repower mission sometimes.

I saw in the video of Commander Noon that he ordered a shuttle. Why not go with his own ship? And how do you order a shuttle? I saw him using the wheen down right and I think the right panel?

Access the wheel, and left key. Then up key to find the APEX option menu.

Sometimes it is easier to take an APEX for a mission (particularly deliver/fetch from settlements, and some use them for assassination missions) as once on board you will be delivered to your destination.

If stuck on a planet (ship destroyed), you can call an APEX.

Commander Noon,

I watched parts of the video and I see you doing a lot of things I don't know how to do; opening doors, downloading data, ordering a shuttle. How does this work?

There's this wheel in the left bottom that you sometimes use. How does it work?

I noticed that you don't take all the goodies you find. How do you select what to take and what to leave?

Greetings CMDR, upon this question I re-took the in-game surface operations training, to see how it was used there. It was not! Good question I'm not sure how you are supposed to get introduced to that, actually. Look what you have bound for it here. Fly safe!

I had arrived on Apex and was traveling by shuttle. You can also order your own ship recalled through that same insight hub menu wheel, though. I conduct a lot of on foot business by the shuttle - however, note to visit the signal source, I took the Apex shuttle to the port of my nearest ship and got on my Vulture! The Apex can be called down anywhere, but, not ridden to unofficial landing spots.

I did a couple of retrieval missions and the last time I was in my suit and got ambushed by criminals. I got in my SCV, dismissed the ship and rode over the criminals or shot them. It was still a lil new for me and difficult to find the right controls sometimes to switch between data scanning and the cannon. My game got a lot better though thanks to you folks.

A long time ago, I came to the forums, frustrated with the game and my lack of understanding... Get set straight by a good folks as well. Good luck Commander, the galaxy is yours to explore and conquer!
