Horizons Getting stuck in your SRV? More traction in reverse!

I was totally stuck in my SRV in a canyon and every time I recalled my ASP, it kept landing outside the canyon; which was highly annoying. I just couldn't get any traction when the slope was over 45..... Then I tried it in reverse and I managed to get out of the canyon. It was a bit difficult trying to get the route right, but what I couldn't climb forwards, I could backwards..

Obviously the SRV is not a 6WD. My guess is that the SRV is a 4WD and the drive is on the back. It also seems to have more traction when going in reverse :S
Anyhow, if you do get stuck on a steep hill... try it in reverse, you may be surprised ;)

That is a one way, yes.
Another good thing is to set the throttle to 10-20% and repeatedly hold and release the handbrake. I was able to climb almost 50 degrees steep hills, like that. :)
Reversing is probably quicker, though. If you don't mind not seeing where you're going.

If it only drove from the rear it would have less traction going up a slope in reverse due to weight transfer towards the front (This is why FWD cars spin their wheels more than RWD cars do while trying to accelerate) , if it has an actual physical reason rather than just being a game glitch it'll be the lower gearing providing more torque that's getting you up the hill not more traction.

Are you crazy? I can't drive from the turret view. Even on flat surface without rocks. My orientation and spacial awareness suck. :D

Its not as bad as you think. You can use celestial bodies such as suns or start formations to give you a fix on what direction you need to travel. Also when in turret mode, you can find the front of the vehicle easy enough as the turret when enabled will be pointing forwards. gradually spin around 360 degrees and see what comes into view that looks familiar. You will pass seeing the back wheels if you go the full 360. Now you have some pointers as to which way the turret is pointing.

Just use a methodical approach and you will be surprised at how easy some tasks become. Don't give up! Use a bit of savvy... hehe

Well, I DO move while fighting, of course. but to call it a CONTROLLED movement in DESIRED DIRECTION would be... well... :D

I don't fight much. I just drive around and shoot rock. It doesn't fight back.
