I previously mentioned in another thread that I have recently relocated to a new home system. This little detour did highlight one thing - just how much I knew about the previous area. I knew which station sold Insulating Membranes, which station had the best price for Palladium, where I could safely sell Personal Weapons and the such. Now I had nothing so I decided to do something about it.
At my new (abet temporary) home I went to the Mission Board and noted every system that was listed there. Then a quick check on the GalMap to see if I had visited them or not. Those I hadn't, off I went in my scooter (umm Courier), a quick scan and off to the next one. First iteration had about 15 systems that I hadn't visited.
The only error I made was I forgot (okay, didn't know) that to use the Trade Tool via the station's Market you had to physically dock at least once in the system. Quick revisit and that was done. Bonus was finding some lovely looking stations along the way and with the quick look at the different markets, quickly building up a good picture of what is sold and bought around my new personal bubble.
I have repeated this little exercise each day when I start up. Naturally the list is getting smaller each time, for example today I had only two to check out (but did find a good source of Beryllium).
I know this is just a bit of waffling on my part but I find it much easier to run missions if I know who's who in the zoo so to speak. Just doing this simple exercise has already given me some valuable info that I might have missed.
