I would like to see animals build their own nests and homes like some animals did in zoo tycoon. This feature would make the game more immersive and fun to play. For example som primater build their own sleeping spots out of plants and egg-layers build mounds for their eggs. Will this be implemented?

I noticed that in the mandrill zoopedia it says they make nests in trees and that they don't need any hard shelter in the enclosure. So I was expecting that they would actually make nests in trees. But they don't actually even climb the trees. Still, maybe a type of shelter object that emulates a tree nest would be cool.
I've definitely seen them climbing trees. I think it was one of the large palm trees that I saw them scurry up, hang out for a bit, before climbing back down.
I stand corrected then! Perhaps I have the wrong types of trees in my enclosure.
If it helps, the climbable trees have a 'Climable' tag! A lifesaver for avoiding putting climbable trees right next to barriers

I would love a shelter-type tree nest object too. They have those in plenty of zoos. Something like what is pictured in this tree kangaroo exhibit:
