- Fixed an issue that caused stars in the night sky to disappear (creating, in some cases, 'hard edges')
Patch Notes September Update - Patch 2
Greetings Commanders, The Elite Dangerous servers will be offline for all platforms on the 3 October at 07:00 (UTC) to apply the September Update - Patch 2. We are aware that there is an issue where some Commanders, specifically those on console, are experiencing the "Failed to communicate...forums.frontier.co.uk
How can it even be fixed if it is related to the star density variances between star forged sectors?Patch notes somewhere last year stated this was fixed.
Why do you ask me?How can it even be fixed if it is related to the star density variances between star forged sectors?
Well you said it was mentioned fixed in the patch notes despite the fact that it seems more of an unfixable problem (without regenerating the galaxy). Why do you ask me?
Well, if it's related to something else, like a limited number of stars that can be generated in the skybox and it hits that limit while generating one face of it, you'd end up in a situation where there's a big square of stars on one face of the box and few or none on the others. How can it even be fixed if it is related to the star density variances between star forged sectors?
Yeah, good point.Well, if it's related to something else, like a limited number of stars that can be generated in the skybox and it hits that limit while generating one face of it, you'd end up in a situation where there's a big square of stars on one face of the box and few or none on the others.
It's in the post you quoted...Now I'm interested what did they actually say in that rumoured patch note, because I've noted no discernible difference in star cubes during last year.
Oh, I didn't notice. It's in the post you quoted...

Dunno if there even is something like a "fact that seems", but to me it pretty much could be a rendering issue. I know of the cubical structure in this galaxy, but this cubical puzzle should not necessarily produce views like shown in the OP. I never seen cubes/edges when I filter on star types in the galaxy map, which doesn't mean they're not there, but still...Well you said it was mentioned fixed in the patch notes despite the fact that it seems more of an unfixable problem (without regenerating the galaxy).
Yeah, a rendering issue related to how the galaxy has been generated and has different star densities that render differently (because the amount of stars rendering to the skybox is relatively low). I mean, the star cubes are both persistent - you can move along them and they clearly correspond to a sector. They also align themselves with the galactic compass and you can see borders of even several cubes:Dunno if there even is something like a "fact that seems", but to me it pretty much could be a rendering issue.
To my knowledge there isn't something like a pre-generated galaxy, it gets generated on the fly for each and everyone. And again, if these cubes would relate to how 'mass/stuff' is divided I should be able to see cubes in the galaxy map as well, something I've never been able to.Yeah, a rendering issue related to how the galaxy has been generated.
