Newcomer / Intro Gone exploring, need help.

Equipped with a C 1 Detail Surface and Discovery Scanner.
I've worked out that I can scan to get the `picture` then point at undiscovered bodies to do a more detailed scan.
What else can I do and what exactly are Level 2 and 1 scans? Do I need to drop out of SC for more detail?

BTW is a 1.5 million credit scanner okay, or do I need a better one?

I think that is the top scanner.

As far as I know the level 1&2 stuff is just a placeholder and not implemented yet.
Apart from that you just discover things. Black holes, different planets etc. Hopefully some nobody has seen before.
