Gonna get the Fed Corvette soon, any loadout tips?

o7 CMDRS,
Basically the title is self-explanatory. Any tips on a loadout, I like to dabble in Haz-Res sites while having the option to jump far (I know it's a bad jump ship. I favour tanking rather than dps. Engineering is possible, I'm relatively new to it though.

Thanks in advance, CMDRS.

dual focused PAs or fixed overcharged high yield cannons on the size 4.

its mandatory by the federal to run fixed weapons on the size 4 slots.

weapons any type but:
huge fixed
all other turreted

(i prefer huge fixed beam lasers)

for pve basically use what you want, you cant be killed in corvette with basic skill. Everything A-rated, bi-shield and shield boosters and hull rein. as much as possible. Shield Cell Bank is not necessary.

Depends on how much engineering you are going to be doing...

Currently I have 2 x C4 G5 OC Beams (118 DPS) & the rest G5 Effic Beams (~80 DPS), all fixed.

With a reasonable roll on the PD I can fire the "rest" indefinitely and put in 5 sec bursts on the Class 4's whenever I need to. All works comfortably for heat and within the capacity of a Goodish G5 OC' PP.

I'm not sure what you mean by favouring tanking (hull or shield) over DPS as these are two separate things? In any respect the above build also runs max G5 reinforced 7A shields and a variety of G5 boosters HD/RA & Thermal. It's also wedged out with modded HRP's and stock MRP's so tanky from any angle.

My advice, is going to the hangar, open up the shipyard, and use the Anaconda. Lol

I got a Corvette a few months back, and I can't stand it.
Tempted to sell it. Lol

It was seriously not worth the money or rank grind.

I have found a pair of huge multi-cannons work nicely for sustained firepower. The huge multis have no spin-up time and low heat/power consumption, you can leave the distro on 402 while you get used to the ship, them move on to something more devastating later.

YMMV.

Turreted Long Range Beams on all 3/2/1 mounts with Thermal vent on the class 3.
Rapid Fire Multi Cannons on the Class 4's. Fixed or Gimballed depending on your skill.
G5 FSD and Dirty Drives make the this much more fun to use also.

Shields depends on how you prefer them but I go thermal resist bi-weave with 4 x heavy duty shield boosters and 2 x resist aug shield boosters. Less overall shields but much faster recovery time.

I thought you quit playing Elite??? Maybe I misunderstood one of your previous posts?

Not quit. On a break. Sort of. Lol
I come back and mess around, but I have no long term goals to achieve at the moment.

My last session was 30 minutes of using my iCourier to fly crash in to canyons.
Then 20 minutes driving around crashing in to rocks trying to find Arsenic.

I found none.

some people are better with hammers than with bats... altho they give the same result (smashed heads).

but you should get some godroll thrusters on it under the new system, my flies like a fat vulture.

I put all multicannons on mine (turrets on small and medium, gimballed on large and huge) with grade 5 Rapid Fire. Incendiary on huge, corrosive on large, also some incendiary on a medium turret. You can fire in 4-1-1 PD indefinitely. The usual A / D modules, everything engineered grade 5, normal 7A shield, 2 point defenses / heatsinks (depending on circumstances), 2 chaffs if PvP, all others shield boosters with heavy duty/ressistance. Millitary with heavy duty, 1 module reinforcement, hull reinforcements, 2 SCB class A (don't like B), SLF 6 with 2 Taipans.

I can kill everything in CZ without taking a sweat. Just fought (PvP) with a modded Cutter recently twice without breaking my shield (I killed him first time, stopped in agreement at his hull at 25% second time), got some heat damage because of the SCBs.

The only downside is the limited ammo if I'm in a RES.

I'd recommend G5 Dirty Drives 1st and foremost. I paired off against another commander last night (just a mock battle where I flashed my headlights at him to represent firing), me in my Imperial Eagle with G5 Clean Drives (https://eddp.co/u/YXZVAxua) and him in his Fed. Corvette with G5 Dirty Drives just outside of Palin's base and was really impressed with the Corvette's ability to keep facing me 60+% of the time. Raw speed was no match, but the maneuverability was amazing and that, will dictate more than anything else, the Hardpoint loadout you'll want to pick.

I have 2 Medium and 1 Large Overcharged Beam Lasers, 2 Huge MC (Long Range) + Various effects throughout. All Gimbal because I sux at aiming. Two Missile Racks on the Small HP's. Seems to tear through all NPC's without issues. Beams drain the capacitor pretty fast but manageable while on target and the two MC's tear through the hull and barely use any capacitor so you can switch pips to engines and use that boost to stay on target :D

Explain to me why you would run an A-rated FSD in a combat ship?

You *might* want A-rated shield boosters, but do you understand the advantage of E-rated boosters?

My corvette jumps 22 ly, and prawls around the edge of the bubble.

Boosters change in 3.0, e-rated now give a fixed shield boost, aimed at small ships.

It depends on what you want to do.

Mine is configured for wing support with two class 4 grade 5 efficient healing beams. And, a class 5 hull repair controller that let's me repair up to 3 ships simultaneously.

I'm 'assuming' that you have access to engineers, but if you don't ignore the rest of this thread. ;)

I'm strictly PvE, so I don't need a 'full combat' rig. My Corvette is setup like my Python for mission or passenger running, and material gathering. So I have either cargo and/or passenger compartments, a SRV bay, and a C6 SLF bay.

I have two primary weps configurations that I interchange depending on my mood. My lazy setup is all G5 long range burst laser turrets everywhere except the huge. There I have two G5 overcharged MCs with autoloader. My 'fun' setup is all gimbaled G5 overcharged MCs on the smaller hardpoints (large has corrosive) and two G5 efficient beams (one thermal vent). The beams are hilarious in that they make smaller ships pop like bugs stuck to a bug-zapper machine, and they strip shields almost as well as the huge MCs.

I drop into a haz res, CNB, or CZ and basically kill everything in sight. I never loose my shields, so no need for armor, SCBs, or heatsinks, but YMMV.

Like I said, it's not a pure combat ship, but it doesn't need to be for me as I don't PvP or fight aliens. :D
