Good combos for multi-species habitats, other than African savannah

I just saw a documentary where a giant panda baby interacts with a red panda she finds in the nature, so I was wondering if anyone has tried to mix these two animals 🤔. I think I've never seen them mixed in real life zoos.

Giant pandas are extremely finnicky to keep in real life zoos, so I doubt any real zoo has risked making the attempt. It would be interesting to know if it would work, though, but since both species can climb pretty well it might be too dangerous for the reds.

The orangutan/siamang mix is one of my favourites which I'd love to do in PZ one day. I also remember seeing a zoo that had the orangutan climbing structure extend out over the Sumatran tiger habitat which was really cool. The tigers couldn't get up and the orangutans couldn't get down due to an umbrella barrier, but it had a really great effect.

Sorry for bumping this old topic, but it felt an appropriate one to ask this question - does anyone know the name of that one site that had a bunch of mixed habitat combinations.

I can't explain it very well, but for example you type in "Black Bear" and then they give you every zoo (can't remember of their database was North America or was it international) that mixes Black Bears with h other animals, pics, name of the zoos...etc

There is a long list from AZA that list every ungulate mixes within their zoos.
I might have it saved on my PC. Will try and remember to check it out later

That Nubian ibex and Hamadryas baboon photo. Was that from Singapore Zoo? There, I saw those two species in one enclosure.

I think ZooRope could be a site that provides that sort of information - it has separate pages for the mixes of all the carnivore groups, plus pigs, peccaries, hippos and aardvarks.

Gavial and Flamingo also works in the Game by the Way. Don't know if it would work in Real Life too but I assume it might due to the Gavials strong Adaptation to eating Fish and the Flamingos relatively big Size

It’s from Ostrava zoo in Czech Republic 🇨🇿
One of the best exhibits I have ever seen 🤩

It’s huge and can be observed from the different heights and angles.

Whenever I make a new zoo I always use the same starting setup to generate some cash beofre building the "real" zoo and it involves some multi-species habitat and it always works great! (and it's easy to keep the animal welfare 100% with this setup)

Habitat 1: Red Panda and Chinese Pangolin
Habitat 2: Peafowls, Tortoises (usually aldabra) and Aardvark
Habitat 3: Cheetah

Then I always have one exibit too, with Brown snakes and Gila monster (+ of course loads of shops and a few toilets)

Set the animal aging to +5, set the speed to +3 and just watch the money roll in :)
I tend to do lots of exhibits, they can bring in money from donations and baby selling. I know in franchise mode you cannot release exhibit species, but in other modes that also helps for conservation credits. I usually do any animal that has more than one offspring with decently easy reproduction, and lots of the high appeal snakes. This also helps to increase education and start off researching on a small level to stay caught up on researching species in the zoo.

I'm currently not completely sure if I remember it correctly but I think it is because of the shy Nature of the Pronghorn and because they get stressed very easy. Walk through Enclosures with them do also not work in Real Life because they are stressed so easily and they also seem to be very territorial.

I'm also living in Europe, so I can only share Informations that I know from the Internet
In relation to strictly the game Planet Zoo, the way I limit stress in multi-species habitats with animals who are shy or neutral (with lots of eyes on them and loud talking)

1. I always use signs of no feeding and stay quiet first off. These can immediately help to ensure limited stress.
2. I ensure that the animals ALWAYS have spaces to go that are outside of the view of zoo guests, whether it be behind lots of plants or within their shelters. There is always a place to go to be by themselves. Rock piles can also help add a more natural feel while giving places to hide from the watchful eyes of guests.
3. All other ways to see them aside from the walkthrough usually have one way glass, so that if people are watching from outside of the habitat, they will not add to the stress of the shy or neutral animals with guests walking through the habitat.

All three of these have helped majorly, as most of the time I place confident species with shy or neutral species due to the species bonus with the multi-species habitats. I know that the capybara is confident, but one of the species it works well with (the giant anteater?) was getting stressed in one of my zoos and I had to alter it so that there were hiding spots. The items I used for hiding spots were a mixture of plants, and some carefully placed one way glass walls near their shelter and food enrichment to lower the stress levels and it worked well.
