Good graphics card for pc?

I've been playing on console, but I'd like to get the game on pc for the mods. But my computer has gotten old. With this being a next gen game, what are some good graphics cards that'll run this game the best? Any suggestions?

I really don't see any point but buying best one.

Of course there is "price for performance" point of view, that you can consider as a price for each additional fps.
Good but:
  • buying 10 of best price for fps cards won't make you pc 10 times faster.
  • it is really hard to enjoy "I've saved so many money on this" while sitting at 5 fps.

So I would suggest google card_0 vs card_01 and buy best what you can afford.
Thank you!
Or I've missed your point completely. Sorry for that.

Thanks for the input. I obviously figured that. But if anyone was already using a specific card and the game ran smoot0h and let me know that might be helpful.

I can play everything on max grafic settings without any fps dropps using a RTX3060.
Sure you can go higher and buy a 4000 series card, but this will cost much more and it isn't needed for this game.

You dont need a last generation card (aka RTX) to play this game at maximum quality. The problem is, it is not really good optimized so it really doesnt matter much what card you have. Square maps are laggy, reached a point, nothing anyone can do about it. For example, a gtx1080p is way more than enough to run this game at maximum settings. But as i said, even if you had a RTX whatever last gen, the game will still lag here and there at some situations.

My old computer has a GeForce? 750ti I think. It played jwe1 fine. But since jwe2 is an XS game on my console, I figured this game needs a new gpu to run at that level. I didn't try to adjust my setting to see if my current system will run it on lower settings. But by default the game doesn't detail out all the graphics and is unresponsive if you try to move the camera for several seconds.

Thanks for the input on the RTX 3060

I don't know all the cards but for a great price a Nvidia GTX 1660 ti on my 10 year old PC with Windows 7 runs ED/O in high/ultra just fine on a 35in 3440x1440 gaming monitor. Also 2560x1440 with 3rd party supporting websites on the display. Works fine with X-Plane 11, X4:Foundations and No Man's Sky. As for the latest ray tracing games especially with virtural reality (most require Windows 10 or better) I would go not only with a much better graphics card but also a high end PC.

All depends if you plan to play at 4k resolutions or not. If you dont plan to do that, just regular 1080p, then buying an RTX is the most dumb idea you could have. Any gtx 1080 or a gtx 1660ti will allow you to play at maximum settings as long as you play on 1080p. As i said, the framerate issues you are going to experience are not related to the power of the card, but to the bad optimization of the game. And everybody have them, nothing anyone can do about it.

People is so funny. Of course you can play on max graffic settings using a RTX card... lol, it will be laughable if you couldnt. You can with a 1080p... already :p But the point is, even then you are still experiencing sudden framerate losses (happens to everyone) in some specific moments, like when you focus on a dinosaur with a background filled with vegetation, and again square maps lag, because they are extremely big, and again nothing anyone can do about it.

That's kind of funny... considering all during jwe1's life, with everyone complaining about its short comings and map size.. the excuses we were given by pc players was that it was the console's fault because they can't support large maps blah blah blah... 😂 😂 😂

Because Frontier really doesnt care about quality or optimization. People wanted larger maps, there you go, larger maps, everybody is happy, even if they are unusable lol. Because why im going to use square maps if i cant put more than 40+ dinosaurs in there?? (they start freezing we all know). But yup, everytime people get something for "free" all the bugs and framerate issues and whatnot are forgotten. Its so sad to see in what has become the videogaming industry.. sigh.
