Good Python PvE weapon loadout?

Are you engineering?

A good basic all round load out

Nose class 3 gimballed or fixed (if you've upgraded drives) Beam. This is first strike shield damager

Right class 3 Pulse turreted.
Right class 2 Pulse turreted
Link these with the nose beam. They'll continue to keep fire on target. Use gimbals if you've upgraded drives and want more manual combat. Turrets are nice for a crewman to jump in

Left side
Class 3 gimbaled canon or multi
Class 2 gimbaled canon or multi
These are your hull strikers.

The class 2 and 3 hard points on either sides can be paired with fixed weapons as they have great convergence. So sometimes I run fixed Multis or cannons on the left.

If farming a res, just go all gimbaled Pulse.

There's a lot you can do with a Python. Great selection of hardpoints with awesome placements.

I've been running with twin large gimbled beams, one large gimbled MC, and two medium gimbled MCs.

However, I feel that something isn't right about this...too much power use for the damage inflicted, too much heat etc. So I've replaced the two medium MCs with railguns and reassigned the remaining MC to the primary trigger (so it fires with the beams) and have the RGs on the secondary.

Advantages: much damage. Also it's teaching me to actually aim.

Disadvantages: primary trigger is now getting through power faster (three weapons firing, not two). RGs are toasty.

I'm tempted to replace the beams with pulse or burst.

Thoughts?

I have three weapons builds for my Pythons I find terribly useful:

With the above, I've been able to camp out in High Intensity CZ's until my ammo is exhausted, my synthesis materials exhausted, and/or I am exhausted.

Just a minor variation of the above, but also a lot of fun.

It packs one heck of a punch, but requires some very specialized engineering, but is an amazing amount of just plain fun.

Usually go with x2 medium beams, x3 multis. Or for mission running, x2 seeker racks x3 multis.

I use the former. 2 beam turrets in the medium hardpoints, 3 gimballed (you could use locked if you wanted) MCs in the large. I seem to do fine on both heat and energy, it takes down shields while I'm manuevering, and then in for the kill with the MCs.

3 sturdy mount rail guns and 2 large gimbal multicannons. The last update reduced the base thermal load on rails and sturdy mount decreases it even more. The 2 medium + center bottom large hardpoint on the Python have very good convergence for fixed weapons.

Plus rails got an enormous boost to armor piercing in the last update too. I believe it's 100 now.

Hmm sounds interesting. I used to use triple rails on my Python waaaaay back before heat became a thing and borked them.

Gonna give them another bash i think

Totally agree with #1 (my daily driver Python) and #3 (my large game hunting Python). Will have to try #2, hadn't thought to do that.

Beams have a definite "you didn't want those shields, did you?" quality about them.

I should point out that I'm mostly non-Engineered except for FSD and thrusters. I've been avoiding weapons Engineers until I'm happier with Engineering as a whole.

Mate, I strongly advise to reconsider this. Your Python can run three Grade 5 Efficient C3 Beams long enough to strip the shields of any NPC out there. Switch to two Grade 5 Overcharged F2 Multis (one corrosive) for Power Generator and once corrosive starts to work, bring back those C3's.

If you go to Palin with enough mats to get more than 32-33% thrusters, your Python becomes a pre-nerf monster.

You don't need weapons for PVE, unless you're going bounty farming or something. Still, I don't take too kindly to being interdicted, so sometimes I'll remove one more miscreant from the galaxy.

So... use whatever tickles your fancy.

Not really.. let me see you land that Anaconda at an Outpost.

Yeah, the Python is the biggest ship I'll likely ever own for the sake of convenience, and even it is nearly unusable without the A rated thrusters. Not a fan of the space cows myself.

Damn rinzler :p

I've gone for 3 large gimballed multicannons and 2 plasma accelerators on my Python. (Relatively light engineering on the guns, since it's just for the NPCs on missions/trade runs, but I do have corrosive and incendiary on the MCs to help break both shields and hull fast)

I tried all Beams modified to Level 3 Efficient which wasn't bad although I'd like to get Level 5 of course.

I also tried 2 large MC's with 1 large Burst turret and 2 medium Burst turrets which I also liked.
