Is there a thread/post on which systems are good for finding ships, modules etc?. I have read a couple of posts where it was mentioned that so and so system/station was good for discounted or hard to find ships and or modules etc, I wish now I had either written them down or bookmarked them but didn't and a search revealed nothing specific.

Thanks for the replies. Can't believe how dumb I am as I already use the EDDB for trading routes.
Here are a couple of pointers:
1. Use Galaxy Map and perform a search for systems by Economy, and deselect all systems except for High Tech. I have noticed that the greater the population, the better the ship selection. However, look at each Station in eligible systems from the search and the bigger their population by general rule of thumb the more available ships and better selection of modules.
2. Here is a link to the ship link on the Elite Dangerous Wiki website. Each ship will have a list of systems where you can find that ship. Bare in mind however that there will of course be additional systems, many systems in fact, that will not be included on that list since people can edit that list as they choose.

If you want to buy a ship I can recommend Diaguandri. Bought my Anaconda there, you can buy a Python in nearby Lembava. Has a 15% discount on all ships and parts. It stocks all the parts you could wish for to kit out the larger ships. Less than 9 Ly away is HIP 13644 which has a pristine metallic ring. Also, it is not too far from the edge of the bubble if you fancy some exploration. Only downside is that the commodities market there is crap.
