Goodbye anaconda... And a moment of realization

I just need to get this out... After having an anaconda for almost a year now I've been loving that ship ever since I watched the reviews I've even bought all the paint jobs available but since I've bought it I've lost around 100 millions to rebuys after I a rated it. Now it seems that ship has only brought me problems, yesterday after a friendly engagement my FSD and canopy were destroyed so I rebooted and repaired the FSD, everything seems normal right? Well when I want to activate supercruise "FSD malfunction" OK it will pass I'll wait. I try again and again it fails,2,3,4,5 minutes pass and I'm still stuck then boom I'm dead. I think that's a sign , it hurts but I sold my anaconda I felt like it wasn't the ship for me or maybe I wasn't the pilot for her, I've decided to build a small fleet with all the money from the conda, I've sold all my engineered modules, the only thing remaining was the Shield generator to engineer. By this moment I analyze I had all the potential to make millions in the conda just for some reason I never took the chance and now I regret that.
Any thoughts? I didn't wanted the money to just get the biggest ship and fill it with guns I just want to have fun without having to worry about things like if I can afford the rebuy or things like that. ATM I'm in an orca doing random sh*t :D

I had a similar problem like you! My a rated half modded Any wasnt good enough for pvp, or i wasnt good enough

But i didnt sell it, i just changed the role to longrange explorer with the smallest and lightest parts available and buyed a FDL with the money for my pvp play. :)

I have over 1.2 billion in assets and the ship I get the most excited about flying lately is my courier.

^^ This for fun

Orca for income doing passenger missions.

Python for doing missions and looking for materials for modding.

Anaconda is still king for long range needs, but that's about it. Cutter's a better trader, FDL or Corvette are better for Combat. Anaconda is now primarily used for exploration or tourist passenger missions to the outback.

Adapt or fall by the wayside - things change.

I'm keeping my Annie, but I have been engineering my Vulture to have fun with when I want to thrash about without having to worry about rebuys too much. I know they do absolutely nothing, but the ship kit for it has been fun toying with.

The little ships are very fun after you've been flying around in a big ship for a long time. Been having fun in my little T-6 with a recent grade 3 dirty drive mod lately, I'd love to see the faces of some of the pirates that have interdicted me only to see me peel off faster than a cobra.

I dread becoming you, OP. I've become increasingly more cautious with my Annie since she has like a 25m rebuy. I haven't died yet, but I know it'll happen eventually... Dreading that day, considering I just float around and don't do all that many missions. I've spent like 30m in buying ships to try them out then selling them, and and have only made back like 10m by selling unknown artefacts. It would take me quite a while to get 25m back.

I'm at 5.2 billion in assets (pc version) and I've only lost 2.1 million in rebuys. I fly big ships practically exclusively but I'm a quite careful pilot in general.
Most situations you can get away clean with the only exceptions being npc's with bugged weapons (rapid fire frag railguns anyone?) or pre nerf heat weapons.

Basically enjoy the rush of hostile cmdrs but always keep your head in the game and be ready to flee like your credit balance depends on it.

My Annie is my gopher, doing the running around for me when I need to collect things or run missions. I don't think it's ever been destroyed, but the most dangerous thing I've ever done in it is go to Jacques.

Never used it for combat.

Sorry to hear your troubles. I absolutely recommend having a fleet of ships. You never get stuck into a 'syndrome' with any one ship that way, when you can just hop into a different one whenever, and you can use individual ones to their strengths according to whatever you're getting up to.

Get back in the Cobra boiiii!!!

Ah I've been doing some old smuggling in the cobra it feels good :)

Yeah I've never been the kind of guy who has a lot of ships but sure as hell is more practical, I need my combat FDL now and I'm Done

gotta love the big ships , its almost like a status symbol , akin to the guy who drives a ferrari - but hes deficient in the boxer , pants department . Or hes very short in a world of 6 foot people . I have a lot of fun in my eagle , not looking for trouble unless i have too , and im making a nice little profit .

I like small ships, but I find after flying the bigger ships, particularly the conda, I'm just too fragile.

hence why i like the smaller ships , you have to think about what your doing , i would rather do that in this game of unknowns rather than drive a tank knowing most of the time its easier .

Mine is not even a racing build. It's a stupidly fast combat build. Boosts to 630 m/s with full weapons and 570 shields with grade 5 CLEAN (!!!!) drives and grade 3 low emission powerplant (so I can use a rail gun). There is still a few tweaks on my to do list. I should be able to get the shields in the range 700 without any loss to speed and some of my grade 4 light weight mods can be swapped for grade 5 (also, didn't light weight the life support). Its great fun in HIRES although I'm still building up the courage to fly it into HAZRES or CZs.
