It happened. I got drunk and considered deleting my save. I was just about to press the yes button, I clicked the mouse but didn't let go... a ms later I decided no so I moved my cursor to the "no" option... but it was too late! Apparently ED doesn't register clicks as being a press and release kind of signal like the rest of the computer world. I lost maybe 500 hours or so of playtime and progress.
So I figured what the heck, I'd go ahead and make the best of the situation. I hopped back into the game and played for three hours. I must say, I think I'll not even petition the mess-up. It's quite nice to go back to square one, especially with all the new features that 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 brought us. Start off with your sidewinder, fly over the a high extraction site, follow the cops around and shoot what they shoot - first few million down. Buy Type 6 and passenger slots, fly some rich people around, few more million made.
At the end of a three hour session starting from 1,000cr, I ended off with around 10m creds + a fully fitted Type-6. I'd say I'm making far more progress than I did the first time around. The game seems all fresh again! I guess some mistakes aren't actually mistakes at all.
