Got my first Colonisation Payment

In my eyes, it's not worth it. Are there any other reasons why you should set up such a system with
stations at all?

Yeah, definitely don't do it for the credits. Its purpose is being another toy in the sandbox; play with it if a reason occurs to you and appeals to you and seems worthwhile.

Some people want a home base that they have a little more control over than a regular system. Some people are into the political aspects such as new places for factions to move into. Some are into lore and role-play, or customizing a setting for fan-fic, or using the naming to memorialize someone, etc

There are endless reasons, but they come from the player not the game

Still happiness zero after the second weekly tick. Wealth 6, standard of living 9, security 11 - ungrateful lot.

Hello,

The return of around 15,000 to 200,000 for the massive effort required to expand the system is very manageable.

In my eyes, it's not worth it. Are there any other reasons why you should set up such a system with
stations at all?

Regards
Systems and profits will both grow over time, and the profit is a weekly payment vs a one time construction investment. Passive income is awesome. Little bits add up to a lot over time. The tax rule seems to suggest that it is at least theoretically possible to bring colony earnings up past 5,000,000 per week. It would still take six times that to offset my carrier maintenance, but I am still optimistic about the long-term financial benefits.

I got 54,000 credits... does anyone know how the payments work?
It looks to be something like number of installations and their size&type, with some status multipliers (probably things like population, happiness, etc), multiplied by how many days of that week each installation was active (which probably won't change much after their construction week)

Different installations raise or lower system wealth so that is presumably a factor. This is shown in the construction stats before you build them. eg a pirate outpost increases wealth and decreases security. However it wouldn't surprise me if increased security allowed some other types of installations to be more productive, but I really have no idea.

The best measure so far seems to be
(Colony Score * ~10000) * (1+happiness as a decimal)

Note the only happiness I've seen to verify that was negative happiness (there was a war going on)... they had a Colony score of 15 and happiness of -8%, so they got a payout of ~138k. (-8% is -12k)

Colony score seems(?) to be the sum of blue-chevrons from your facilities... it's unknown if there's any other interplay with the different stats... it may become more apparent with larger/ higher population colonies.

Perhaps happiness is tied to forum responses, so happiness is doomed. :)

Where are people getting all these stats from? I have a message with a happiness rating and a score only
It's in a message you get after the weekly (Thursday) tick. It sounds like your message didn't include any income, that would be expected if you don't have any constructions completed yet, if you do then I don't know why

Perhaps they should have called it an unhappiness rating instead?

I got 250,000

An outpost and some surface stuff

Who knows what's going on then

I get my detailed stats simply by copy/pasting selected rows from the handy spreadsheet. Every time I begin a new a facility I add a row to my own spreadsheet. Unfortunately the game does not provide this information.

I do not know of any other way to keep track of a system as it gets developed.

It looks like maybe someone at Frontier wanted to have a system summary screen but this is far as they went.

It says "view and manage your colonies". Okeedokee. Hopefully this screen is a work in progress and just not finished.

Ya, again weird. They can't seem to decide what the construction crane symbol means. Sometimes facilities under construction. Sometimes facilities that are completed.
