Got my OCULUS last week. Cant play because of MOTION SICKNESS :.(

hi guys sorry for late post.

well, i feel better or try to avoid eye tracking certain objects . bigger structures and lets say objects are giving me the issue. maybe i get used to enemy ships tracking . no more puke feeling now. i will do what u suggested.

i have a MSI NIGHTBLADE X2 which has 980ti 16gb ram and 6770 CPU on it if i am not mistaken.

i tried DEBUG TOOL too sharpen images. it helps visual disorder a bit but not sure if thats the lag i sense a bit stutter. not the fps but scenes in ever 2 seconds hold back there head tracking . game FPS seems high. but the head tracking looks like can't track my movement precisely

it will never be as pretty as your monitors , its a trade off for immersion.

Thought the OP might appreciate some of my findings after my first weekend with the Oculus (which include, tho' not as extreme, similar issues re: motion sickness and graphics quality).

The resolution actually isn't that bad at 2160x1200 (or 1080x1200 per eye). The problem is that your field of view is so big. If you sit in front of a monitor, all those pixels are crammed into a relatively small area if front of you, and they are farther away so they look sharper. But with VR, the pixels are stretched out over your entire FOV and the screen is a lot closer.

Of course. I was trying to figure out why the perceived resolution seemed lower than the quoted 1080x1200 per eye. Thanks for the clear explanation.

Someday we may have curved screens that will stay in focus, with 10 times the resolution, and the hardware to run it at high FPS, but until then you need to sacrifice some image quality for the experience.
I think this is the bottom line and a bit of a quandary for me because god how I loved that image quality.

A little Gravol can help until you get your VR legs. Small doses of games that bother you and build up. Playing some easier on the stomach stuff or spending time in things like Dream Deck may also assist.

Went back to flat screen while setting up a new computer. What a disappointment after 4 months in VR. The graphics may be sharper but the 2d flat look is boring. I find after being in VR for a while I have gotten used to the resolution and it doesn't bother me that it is less than a monitor any more. VR may have less of an impact now that I have been inside for a while but I can't get excited about flat screen gaming , no matter how good their graphics.

I have a Vive and I'm fine flying around in space, looping around doing twist etc no problem but when I land on a planet and start driving around I start to feel sea (planet) sick. I think its the bumps and uneven ground and the perceived speed of the SRV. Solution = never land!

Yes, it certainly helps to turn on fixed horizon with the SRV, but I do still have to drive at a slower pace to keep from getting the sweats. For very rocky surfaces, I have to close my eyes for a few seconds at a time to keep from getting past the point of no return. It has gotten better over time though.

Fortunately, the flying never really caused me issues, only the SRV. Even the Debug Camera is fine for me.

I've mentioned it in other threads but try using "sea bands". They really helped me with motion sickness, especially when driving the SRV.

You can purchase them from Amazon: LINK

Ginger helps as well apparently but I've not tried that.

As soon as you feel the slightest motion sickness, stop immediately. I had it myself when starting in a Rift... took me 2 or 3 weeks, then i could play for 2 hours. Now i can play as long as i like with no problems. Got my Rift in June... so just take your time. It might be annoying at first, but you will adapt quickly.
