Got myself a space cow, now what to do with it?

As an advocate for the space cow, I will heed your warning and just outfit it for mining or trading.

You won't regret it. I made a lot of money in my T9 just doing a simple A->B->A trade route. Not the most interesting, but profitable.

Agreed, I use my for Mining and Trading.

I fit a fighter bay when Mining which tends to see off any NPC pirates, when Trading I run with just Cargo Racks, no weapons, no shields, no defences..... can make a lot of money if you find a system in outbreak, but also be prepared to be blown up every now and again..... my insurance broker must be getting fed up with all my claims.....

There was one exclusive to bid on for the charity stream.

I don't think it will be in store anytime soon to keep its exclusiveness to the owner.

Sell it and buy something more suitable?

If you really want to go Thargoid hunting an Anaconda would be better or get an FDL and forget about the fighters

It's my main ship.
Don't listen to the negatives they just want to all fly the same thing .
Start by a rating it then get a fighter bay in there and spend a lot of time with some engineers.
It will take a while to get it all right but when you do you have a great looking all rounder and some originality.
Good luck

Well I’m not sure you could do enough damage to thargoids. But I have a combat/troll cow. 💯 % engineered. I got interdicted by some poor guy in a cute little Corvette today. He opened fire on me. I danced around him for some time. When my shields were close dying I popped a shield cell. I even wrote “plz don’t hurt me moo moo” he kept blasting while I slowly danced around him. I launched my baby fighter cow at him and then he began to shoot at it. I wrote “stop shooting my baby. You don’t wanna see me angry MOOOOOOO” I armed my horns and turned around. I fired 6 engineered torpedoes at him from a distance of 2.5 km. Then I wrote “those white dots are not M&Ms I would move if I were you” Well as you all can imagine he did not. His shield generator blew up after 4 hits. The other two tolk his hull down down to 65% I fired a salvo of heat seeker missiles at him while blasting him with enforcer cannons. When he got down to only 15-20% health only then did he realize the trouble he was in. He tried to escape but my baby fighter finished him... His only reply on Xbox live was. “what?” . So the morale of the story. Mess with the cow and you get the horns.

Just bought a type9 and have stuck a fighter bay in, with some ax fighters, as I was thinking of going thargoid hunting. Could someone please suggest suitable build. Thanks

I rather resent the whole 'space cow' nonsense... I feel its flight model should be more common across the ships, as so many of them just handle the same, or are overly, distractingly twitchy with no sense of mass or any grace. The T9's actually incredibly graceful (especially during landing), which cannot be said about cows... The nickname simply doesn't match up.

I'm not playing Elite at the moment, other than firing up the Holo-Me or considering the Xmas lights on the storefront (decided against it given my character's 800Ly out from the bubble, and headed another 1000Ly someplace else), but I'm out in the Eskimo nebula staring at its [iffily rendered?] black hole in a T9 built for--- well, exploration and mining... Not a build I'd overly recommend, but I just wanted to mine a certain freakish system (two ring worlds within scoop range of an O type) for the hell of it, and for the inevitable screenshots.

I left a fighter behind, which is a shame as hunting for surface POI's in a fighter with the T9 loitering above/behind was a lot of fun when I tried it out. But given I wanted to pack some mining equipment as well as take an SRV, I just couldn't find the space.

As for the thread? Surely no one should ever be mulling over what they want to do with a ship after buying it... That's kindof the question you answer long before handing over your creds. 'The T9's a trader. Trade in it', is a pretty sturdy answer, but as others have mentioned it can be a prodigiously capable miner so long as you're comfortable extracting not just ore, but your own from a site if you get targeted. I prefer to head to the best spots just outside the bubble to minimise any hassle whilst mining - usually some NPC's spawn in the instance, scan you, then are goners, leaving you in total peace until you're done.

My future plans for the T9 have always been a full exploration build, and to head out around 10-12K, as it can take all the necessary gear, plus a fighter (for POI's and a great change of pace), and it gives you one of the very best cockpit views of the galaxy in the entire game. Engineered, and its jump range is tolerable.

I agree. I love the type 9. I don’t find any joy in all the other big ships. They all move and turn like small ships. But the type 9 actually behaves like a big ship. A real mans ship. Plus mine is engineered to take out any ship. (I use torpedoes and seekers) If I can land the shot that is. If not then I can survive long enough to get a cup of coffee and then escape... no I have a big love for it. Big and bulky. Slow, though with dirty drives mine runs 285 top. But it handles like a big ship should handle. (Frontier take note) and not like all the other arcade big ships that can turn like a fighter and have fixed weapons cause they are so easy to handle lol. Not sure what Frontier was thinking. “ hmm a ship the size of an aircraft Carrier, surely it can turn like an eagle” making smaller ships complete pointless. Star Citizen got it right. Maybe Frontier will also should they ever decide to make a new space game one day called “Elite! This time we are serious with Kickstarter” But hey that is ofc my opinion.

Maybe you should use the UDDER one, no BULL. Alright I'm going, but before i do, i think a cow paint job should be for FRIESIAN.
Sorry couldn't help myself

The next thing to do now you have a ‘space cow’ is to buy a PC together with an oculus rift and literally be blown away at how large the T9 is inside. And then splendor at the huge vistas the cockpit allows.

Flimley

now, realize:

1 you are absolutely helpless against interdiction
2 when you get interdicted you are absolutely helpless against weapons
3 you will never fill your cargo hold because the T9 was designed before they messed up the mission boards
