Got that CV1 finally.

Also, did you try running older sdk with it? Did it worked or you absolutely need 0.8?

An SDK is not used by users - it's an software development kit.
I must run 0.8+ runtime since an older version doesn't support the new firmware of the devices

Also, sorry another question...how's the space for people with glasses?

Can't say actually, but I can ask ..

overwrite the vid config files for elite's new cv1 res and hz rate. save them as read only.

I fail to get anything other than Oculus Home displayed on the HMD. How will adjusting anything help me. Did you have the same problem and did you solve it like that ?

Sorry, yes I have access to one, someone mentioned having to change certain files for the new resolution etc. it was working, I know I tried it myself, too many bugs, and some major tracking errors. Think I'll wait for an official SteamVR update.

Before I updated to last firmware I actually had it working decently - a few artifacts but generally playable. Now I just can't get it working at all. Haven't really bothered doing the ini file tweak thing but i might just do that for the fun.

We live vicariously through you. Good Luck. :D This subforum will be interesting in about 6 weeks...

I thought the accepted standard was binocular horizontal - left extremity to right extremity? I know that doesn't help determine nose gap, but it can be assumed that each eye FOV reaches far enough in to not break immersion. If it didn't, reviewers would have already slaughtered it.

FOV in the DK2 is acceptable for now but definitely could be improved for even better immersion. I for one think this even more important than resolution as far as immersion goes.

Still on par with me, I'm sure I'll share the same opinion as you post-cv2 though.

Oh yea, also I tried fiddling with ED settings - ofcourse got nothing. I'm just 'blocking' on the openvr->oculus runtime communication. Even if I get it work it'll sure be an unpleasant experience so i won't bother.

Sorry, couldn't say much about the current CV1 support due to NDA, now the news is out and all, you'll be pleased to know frontier will indeed release an updated client that fully supports the oculus rift from day one, Monday 28th March.

Of course testing has been very awkward as the current client does not support it at all. Roll on 28th!

Stoopid NDAs

Thanks for letting us know though and putting our mind at ease. The whole "We are continuing to work with Oculus to resolve the issue" line was driving us mental :)

Have there been improvements to the performance of the engine at all in order to get Oculus support?

I was thinking you might not be allowed to say it was officially supported if your min spec didn't match Oculus. ie GTX970 vs GTX980

Oh yea this thread is pretty much dead, the Rift is now officially out and ED has great support for the newest runtime. I still haven't tried Vive :) But according to ppl who tried both, the nose gap is one of the very few things that Vive does better than the Rift (for the features present in both products). And for me that's just not an issue whatsoever on the Rift.

Pressing your head into a HMD with little ventilation (and two warm OLED screens) is a recipe for sweating. Also not bothered so long as lenses don't fog up.

My study is generally fairly dark so light seepage will be minimal anyway.
