Got to have storage. Ridiculous.

I agree that 2.1 has been a great addition to the game and all credit to FD for that. I can live with the less than competent engineers, who on their performance rate for me thus far have been less than stellar and I wouldn't get them to wire a plug if I had any choice in the matter. My big gripe is the lack of storage and FD seem to have a habit of making really silly decisions in relation to things like this, as I don't believe it was a mistake or oversight. They seem to have a disregard for the time players put into the game and the time needed to progress.

Now I know it's not a race but at the same time you want to feel like you're making some progress for the time invested, FD seem to be on the otherside of this argument trying to frustrate this progress in the name of "interesting gameplay". Going around in circles like a blue ....... fly does not make interesting gameplay in my book. I think FD would want to show players a bit more consideration for their input into the game.

So, I had a bunch of materials for engineers that I was working to get to take a tour of the engineers and get a bunch of upgrades. Had a ton of rare inventory items, not materials, actual cargo space mats. Like 100 of em. And since I can't store them anywhere, I HAVE to take them with me.

Ok, no biggie, I don't die often, I can fight. So, heading in to fuel up and head to Farseer. Interdicted by a Federal Gunship/assault ship, whatever, start fighting, he's strong, but so am I. I get him down to about 30% hull, when the cops show up, I lose my shield and he gets me down to 85% hull, no worries, the cops are here, I'll bounce around and let him fight until my shields charge.

NOPE. At 85%!! My canopy shatters, and out of no where, with 4 cops attacking him, he Rams right into me. 85% to dead in seconds. 100 Rare engineer ingredients lost. Like a weeks worth of work.

Need to make all engineer ingredients materials immediately. I can deal with loss, but the grind is soooooooo long with engineers, to have it all lost on a fluke breach like that really leaves me with only 1 option - turn off the game.

so mad.

2.1 update is amazing, I have been really enjoying all aspects of it except for the lack of storage. I am not a hoarder but I know if I have a pinned recipe that asks for Modular Terminals or something, and a few other rare materials, and I have the Terminal but am lacking say, Vanadium, I have to basically fly around in every ship making sure I can keep carrying around that Modular Terminal like a marsupial with it's baby in a pouch, until I can finally divest myself of it. Add a few other engineers with a few similar pinned recipes and you end up with easily 5-10 cargo reserved -and that's assuming you only keep 1-2 of each of them.

Like many others I have been making some different choices as far as ships go, and have noticed that once you have too much cargo you can't go into another ship and upgrade it's space, so like my Courier only has 4 cargo currently so it's off limits right?

Then, I'm flying around doing various black box salvage missions in my FAS, THOROUGHLY ENJOYING MYSELF I must say, loving poking my nose into USS, and of course, also being occasionally hunted by deadly/elite bounty hunters of various types, and I ended up dying to an elite conda, big grin on my face the entire time because the combat was so fun and challenging. But alas...there goes my small hoard of rare components, carefully gleaned from various mission rewards.

Back to the square one I guess right? Meh. That one issue is literally the only thing I find fault with in 2.1 at this point, and it really really really needs to be addressed soon imo. I earned those cargo components, I shouldn't have to cart them around with me forever, or immediately go try and spend them. The game doesn't work that way. One doesn't collect all the various components for a given recipe all on one mission or for that matter necessarily even in one ship.

For instance I can get the modular terminal from a black box mission which often involves combat so i'll use my FAS, but something like an element I may want to get from mining in my Python, or from a planet in my Dropship, or from a large cargo hauling mission in my Clipper, and at any time I could die, and lose it all.

Some might say oh it's a more hardcore playstyle or blah blah but it's just not realistic even. I have 1.3 billion in assets, and I can't store valuable cargo anywhere for a price?

I do seem to have a magical bag of holding for other materials though...so it seems like the solution is just to put all the engineering-related ingredients into the magic bag right?. Problem solved, and 2.1 is literally perfect for me.

Yeah. I'm quitting until storage comes out. I can't just travel around with rare and expensive things in the trunk. AI is bloodthirsty enough as it is.

Judging from how long it took to get basic Galaxy Map functionality in the game (400 billion star systems and no bookmarks - for a year) I have low expectations of Frontier. I thought waiting this long for Horizons would let me play a completed product, but I guess I was wrong. There are just too many good games out right now to bother with this unfinished mess.
