General / Off-Topic Grand Theft Auto 5

Now imagine that ... but in space ...
And that's what I hope Elite: Dangerous is like.

To put that another way, if Rockstar added space travel (and made it work on today's PCs not PCs 5 years from now) it'd be the perfect game.

Awesome, this is the right word. Beautiful graphics and great immersion apparently. But I will concentrate on one game. Guess which game it is ?

Looks great! so much detail, love the custom tats! and fancy a bit of para jumping to, never mind just driving around!

Out sept, so some spare time before ED, but then Watchdogs out Nov to, man some good games coming out almost at same time....to much choice!

It's no choice really ...
Wait for E: D to come out, hopefully that works perfectly on PC when released. Play that and other games until you find yourself wanting to play something else.
Then get GTA V ... by then it'll be cheaper and should actually work on PC by then.

Unfortunitly i cant wait! am just a big kid when lovely looking open world games come out, and even though i have ED Alpha, its still Dec at the earliest.

ED will be my main play game whatever other games i get, its just nice to play something else when in the mood, i still play Fallout 3 and Civ4 back and forth when mood takes! ;)

Gob smacked - this looks awesome.

Going to have to get me some of that :D

A game I will get but which version, XBOX or PS3, the PS3 version of GTA4 was terrible compared to the xbox version, this was the same for the awesome Red Dead Redemption. so this time around im going to wait to see which version looks best.

just hope that the PS3 version is better this time around as they proved with L.A NOIRE.

That's why I don't like Rockstar any more ... they are biased towards Micro$oft's Xbox - and I can't stand Micro$oft or Xbox

I don't think it was being biased towards Microsoft, it was more of having to program the game on the lower spec console then convert it to the PS3, Sony didn't help matters having their own OS, this made converting difficult.

that's why with the exception of Gran Turismo 5 all ps3 exclusives look awesome, just take the Last of us as an good example of the power of the PS3.

going forward I think Xbone are gonna fall behind in the next console war due to the PS4 being cheaper with better specs and building games for Sony's next-generation platform will be "less complex" thanks to the system's PC-like architecture.

Well I only have a PS3, so I'll probably get it for that. Will only play the multiplayer though. If anyone else wants MP on that platform then IM me when it's out and we can team up.

Buy clothes, invest in stock and play golf... uh, sure, fun :-/

The first 2 GTAs were great fun, but these latest city simulators I really find tedious as hell. And the new one looks likes it's even more focused on scripted missions and interactions. Booooring :p

It does look good, but I kind of agree with Darren Grey. It looks like there's an awful lot of mini-game stuff, and things I could care less about. Tennis, golf, tattoo parlour, etc...

If I had a console, I'd probably be tempted though. It would probably be worthwhile just for the music and picking up the atmosphere of the city. The NPC crowds look quite good in that footage.

The thing is, you can usually pretty much ignore all of that stuff if you want to. People complain about the constant phone calls/text messages in GTA4 even though there's an option in the menu that's basically "turn your phone off".

I think there's only one mission in GTA4 that requires you to do any of the minigame stuff, and that's just to get you to go through the motions so should you ever want to try that side out you know how to do it. After the first few missions all of the games have let you loose in the city and just left scripted missions up to you at your own pace, and GTA4 opened up the whole city extremely quickly to encourage that sort of thing.

I really don't see how these are focused on scripted missions and interactions any more than the original games.

Indeed. The core gameplay looked good, and I don't have a problem with scripted missions - especially as the GTA scripts are usually done quite well. I was just picking up on the number of features in the video that I would probably largely ignore while playing the game.

It's gonna be utterly amazing!

I've been a fan of GTA since the first one (PC and PSX) and I have played every sequel since (probably a bit too much)...

I remember reading an interview from Rockstar and they said they had learnt a lot lessons about the depth of multi-player from RDR and they want to expand on the player development aspect and persistent universe possibilities(?)...

...they also stated that GTA5 will do for multi-player what GTA3 did for sandbox games.

I just can't wait!

I will probably play exclusively multi-player on XBOX 360
