Graphics from the 1980's??????

Everywhere I look in Odyssey I find gross dumbing down by FDev compared to Horizons... here are a couple more examples: BTW my graphics are ALL set on ultra!
Look at the star prominence's... luverly blocky polygonal depiction to enhance our immersion.... nah! (I believe the graphics have had to be hit with the nerf hammer so hard to allow for a modicum of better performance all round.... probably with consoles in mind...)

And look at my brand new Diamondback's dashboard.... looks like it's been used as a trash truck for hauling biowaste!!!!

your picture looks just like horizons to me
...look again (In Horizons the arc's of the sun flares are beautifully 'rounded'... it is obvious the number of constituent polygon's have been markedly reduced, so making the arc more 'angular' or disjointed as it were.)

On the one hand I appreciate that prominences now have a kind of volume to them vs a 2D sprite that always faces you, on the other they are WAY TOO LOW DEF for the distance that ED insists on putting us from the star. They look bad and very angular from scooping distance. It would be awesome too if one day flying your ship through ejected plasma from a flare or CME was actually a problem.


Also since you mentioned it, I also hate the fact that my new ship comes with a dashboard that looks like it was pulled out of a junkyard. If used ships were a thing in ED then it would be nice, something you had to fix up to get back to base stats or close anyway. If they weathered with age in your fleet, again nice touch. As it is all Lakon ships always came with junkyard scrap interiors.

If you're right and they removed polygons for stars.. you have to wonder why as that part of the game doesn't suffer from taxing anybody's system.. it's no problem at all to get max 60 framerates in supercruise so why reduce Star corona ejections etc?
