Gratuitous Selfie Thread

I bet the rents are cheap in these apartments. Getting insurance might be a bit problematic though.

I felt sure I'd landed an Anaconda on that pad, except it looks like it's only a medium. Must be another place where real estate is equally hard to come by.

Scared a few people on the second floor, I can tell you.

Love that image. The ship flying away into a starfield full of spiky things reminded me of this... ;)

we should be able to name ELW's that we find. Having made the effort it would be a great reward to make a contribution to the game like this. I love my ELW's, i think i have 8 or 9 mostly in the corridor between Colonia and Sag A around 4 thou ly from Colonia, maybe a high spawn rate around there.

Then I'd feel compelled to try and think of 300 odd good names and that sounds like hard work. Never mind the people well into 4 figures.

Don't get me wrong, I still love finding an ELW and it gives me a little thrill every time but there are a few billion of them out there.

Every time FDev let us name something then that becomes a bit of data that's outside the procedural generation that has to be stored and linked to a system in a table that needs to be checked for every generation. Every galactically visible player added name for a proc gen body adds to the time spent in witch space for every single player on every single jump because it's another thing that needs looking up every time you enter a system. It might only be a fraction of a millisecond for each named body but they add up.

Well your compulsions would be yours to deal with, just dont name them. The planets already have names at the point of discovery, wouldnt a player given name just replace the original?. I think its a great way for people to connect a bit more with the vrtual galaxy. The fact that theres a few billion ELW's out there isnt relevant, once youve been to a few dozen systems they're all pretty much the same but exploration goes on and we keep playing.

At the risk of derailing this thread even further, I would like the record to show that I would be more than happy for people to be able to name ELWs. The cost per naming should be £750, which is the amount one hundred Kickstarter backers pledged for the same privilege.

Back on-topic, here's a "space legs daydream" selfie...

I still love my Anaconda. Tried all sorts of fancy paint jobs -- Iridescent, Pulse, Crypsis, even the classic Wireframe -- but IMO you can't beat Tactical Ice bathed in the light of an alien sun.

Edit: only after looking at this screenshot with fresh eyes did I realise that if I'd positioned the SRV and/or camera in a slightly different position it would have looked as though the SRV was wielding a lightsaber. I will try harder next time.
