Great farming place for Opinion Polls, Cat, Classic and Multimedia

Hi everyone,

I found a decent location to farm all engineering media needed from 6 data points that are very close together and don’t require any combat if you’re careful. Thought I would make a post for the community. You can farm about 60 data points per hour this way. I’ve been rotating through settlements in this system and this is the easiest location.

Link to a run through in about 4 minutes.

Settlement: Guzman Leisure Complex

Couple of tips.
  • Start at the bar center building. There is always a guard there and you can get your scan out of the way while scanning the data point.
  • If you jump near the end of your sprint, you keep going sprint speed as long as you stay in the air.
  • You can get pretty close to NPCs as you can see in the video. 3 out of the 6 rooms have NPCs in them. Some with two, so watch them path and you can sneak in and out.
  • If you do get detected, just run out. They give you a few seconds to run out and then they reset. You can also check the data point real quick even if they see you, then run out and come back if it has something you want.
I am getting about 1-2 of the needed media per run. Almost done with opinion polls and it was all done in this system. Took about 12 hours over 2 days to get everything you need. Classic, Multimedia, Cat and Opinion.

Wearing a G5 Maverick (level doesn’t matter) with Quiet Footsteps and Extra Backpack Capacity.

Good luck. Hope this helps some people out there with this grindy farming!

You're lucky if you get 1-2 media per run, wow. I've ran through this settlement variant a dozen times and saw maybe 2 and only one OP.

It's definitely one of the two better variants for this grind fest, though. The other one has 7 points, but actually finding that where it's active and owned by an anarchy wasn't easy.

There's 2 offline Tourist sites in that system where you can do Restore missions. Even better for me as I get the mission rewards.

But I guess not grindy enough - carry on!

So, here's a question.

If this settlement type was powered down when you got there, and you power it up, it'd still have all those data points and data in em right?

I know it would take longer, I just prefer to be... alone (I guess there could be scavs.)

I just lucked into this place from Eurybia last night. Taking missions from Joliot Curie in ashuttle then switched to ship due to the sheer amount of mats and data.

Tonnes of Data and Materials, I focused on Iyer after my 1st run, bring your ship tho you dont have enough space for all the mats.

Didnt fire a single shot and other than suit schematics have enough mats to get to level 4 Maverick, did Iyer and the bridge one (they are the same type) a good few times.

The other settlements I went to in the system were powered down. You can power them up. Just takes longer than 3 1/2 minutes. The site above worked really well for me. I know it's RNG and data didn't drop every time, but as you can see in the video, 3 of the needed ones dropped. I've had 3 opinion polls drop at once here too. I know everyone has a different RNG experience.

restore is also a good way to find data, drelthar, if its short range trips... but, tourism spots are nigh the best, quick in and out, fsd, drop fsd, 180 then go back

my personal favorite is:
landing
lil hab, hab
big hab, lil hab
hab, big hab
leisure, pwr

i dont have picture for it, but thats the layout, i do the no clone with the 2 littles and the leisure, pilots will go into them often and theyre restricted, but the distance from outside the redtape and the data is still downloadable, and guards wont scan you, so no death/mass murder needed incase you get the illegal data(or whatever the eye marked data is)

I like the description lol. lil hab, big hab. I have to use that!

I just found 4 cat media at one random metallurgical settlement. It's the first time I've seen any yet... and then got spotted stealing some metal wire through a window and couldn't make it back to my ship.

this is really a great spot to farm, thanks for sharing

For more lazy people who get detected a lot: FULLERENE C60 system is the way to go, it's anarchy (so no bounties) and following settlements have the same layout as OP's:
  • Arsenault's View
  • Bedi Inn
  • Dovbush Leisure Resort
  • Ibanez's Venue
  • Bianchi's Serenity
  • Kay Lodgings
(as players keep stealing the power regulators they will go offline, grab what you can)

Just go in and kill everyone - just make sure to kill NPC's calling for backup unless you want more kills
Optional: pick missions from the station to those settlements for extra money/mats - all missions at the station are local

I've been looting all I can at the same time and trading up for mats that I need, this system has really high value for farming this stuff
You can initiate a power shutdown (to grab power regulator) and still have enough time to check all data ports for opinion polls (other data - not so much), free power regulators
Free suit/weapon schematics and ionised gas in power station building locker RNG

Also a sidenote: the shutdown mechanic works outside weekly tick, Bianchi's Serenity was still online last friday.

That's a great option. It will just take a lot longer to do each run and to go to the station to get missions. You can probably run the above site 10 times before you complete one mission from a station, go to that settlement, kill everyone, then return to the station. If you want to get all the major media (besides Smear Campaigns and the non-leisure site data), the above method works great.

You can also just run in, check the data port and move on. No need for super stealth, which doesn't exist in this game anyway. If they see you, they won't shoot or fine you if you run right out after checking the data port.

Missions? Just land at settlement (I like landing just behind the bar myself), scan the data according to your favourite routing, get back to ship, enter supercruise, immediately leave supercruise, do a 180 and fly back down. Settlement is reset and full of data again.

Having finished Opinion Polls last night, I'll add that no one should worry about cat media or entertainment. By the time you find the 40 OP, you'll have many times more than you need of the rest. I'd recommend downloading Financial Projections too, you'll need 15 of them later.

All the layouts for tourist settlements and resorts that I've found with lots of data points have the HAB points behind a clearance requirement plus there are usually one NPC in each as well as one pilot who cruises back and forth. It makes grabbing all the data points very time consuming.

Are you saying you just scan the bar data point only and rinse/repeat?

No, I do all of them. The layout I used is the one with all the habs opposite the power station, with the landing pad in between. The habitat section, is sort of a line of 6 buildings: A B C D E F, with C being the bar, and A/B/D/E/F being single cabin buildings.

I park outside the bar, and jump/fly over the bar rooftop to enter it through one of the gates. I grab the bar data, and get scanned by a guard. Then I have about 4 possible ID cloning options: one NPC leaves through the left door and goes left (2 habitats), then later another NPC leaves through the right door and goes right (3 habitats). The left one is my usual ID cloning target, but sometimes it's late on schedule so I may pick the right one. Then there are 2 guards outside, one left, and one around the middle, going right. They often have a level 1 clearance, making them additional targets for ID, the left one in particular often spawns far away that it's easily cloned with no one in sight.

From there, my routine is to start from the right side: middle habitat (E) has only one person in if you reach it fast enough. Then far habitat (F), which is empty. Then near habitat (D), with 2 persons inside, this is the most tense one. Once that's done, I move to the left side: close habitat (B) has one person, but generally behind the wall, I can just sneak straight to the port. Finally, far habitat (A), which is empty unless I spent too much time, in which case there's one person. Jump/fly to the ship, rinse and repeat. If you keep resetting the same settlement, trust me, you'll quickly find your own routine and know where the NPCs tend to be.

Note that if you start a download, you can finish it from just outside the restricted area, so if the NPC spots you, you can quickly get out and still wait for the transfer to finish. And of course, if they get mad, well, the Executioner sorts everything out. A nearby guard will show up but again, the Executioner solves the problem. As long as you don't allow them to raise the alarm, you'll have plenty of time to reach the last few habitats you need and leave before panic sets in. Waking out/in will reset the settlement aggro.

Yes, I often power up settlements where I was just ordered to clear the scavs. I then gather the data as well as materials, disarm the alarm, and then pull the power regulator before leaving. :)
