Gridded zoos guest issues: am I the only one with this problem?

Hi all,

just checking. I've had this problem for a long time now and have posted it as a report a couple of times, but nothing has changed yet. Whenever I make a gridded zoo, or a large gridded area within my zoo, sooner or later guests start getting stuck. It appears like they are stuck between two grid pieces. The only way to 'fix' it is to remove the bit of path they were getting stuck on and place it back after everyone has moved on or to manually move everyone of that bit of path. Saving, closing and reopening the game often makes the problem return though at the exact same spots it was happening before. It becomes very tedious. I know the obvious solution is just to not build on the grid, but I happen to like the grid for my zoo entrances as well as restaurants etc. I shouldn't have to abandon the grid.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm also experiencing this all the Time in one of my Zoos. I hope they'll find a Way to fix this because it can be really annoying (but not as annoying as the Penguins clipping trough Barriers and the Japanese Macaques clipping under their House for some Reason even though I've already removed the climbable Objects inside of it😑)

I think this issue was introduced when they changed the navigation system. Staff also started acting weird on paths since that patch.

If you have a link to your Issues Tracker report and add it to your post others can add to it. That way anyone that sees it and has the same problem they can get the issue to the confirming and voting stage.

I've had this happen. The guests simply pivot back and forth in place in a particular area of path.

And if I'm not paying attention to that part of a zoo, I have sometimes gotten staff alerts that staff members are considering quitting etc., and eventually they finally rage quit. I spent a lot of time increasing the training of disgruntled staff members, giving raises, checking accessibility of staff rooms etc. for the angry staff members to no avail. Then I realized this is almost always because the staff member in question is stuck in the middle a mob of gridded guests somewhere. It also occasionally explains those keepers who refuse to feed their animals or mechanics who refuse to fix things in their work zones, and if a staff person is transporting an animal and they get stuck in a crowd of guests, you start getting those welfare notices too. The staff member can be stuck there for months or years of game time with no potty, food, or sleep breaks, so it's not surprising they get a bit testy.

The fix is to delete that area of path or plaza, then ctrl Z the deletion, so the paths go back the way they were, but the stuck guests are gone. I've never had any luck with the suggestion to log out and back in again. They will still be stuck when I start the game up again. It seems to happen kind of randomly and has been more of an issue in a couple of my zoos, even though they have no more gridded plaza areas than any other.

Thanks. I've just added the issue tracker report link. Reason I also posted it here as there have been multiple of these tickets in the past but not enough people respond to it on time.

I experienced this just yesterday. I got an alert that my Lamas escaped. All of them. So I took a look an voila, a piece of fence was missing. As none of the animals were angry or upset (they just calmly walked through the gap in the fence with my guest fleeing in terror, lol), I concluded that the animals did not destroy that piece of fence. So I inspected the habitat and found that the maintenance bar was at 0%. Why? Because the mechanic that was responsible for said habitat and those in the vicinity was doing pirouettes on an empty part of a path. I relocated him and he went to a breakroom first (being totally exhausted from dancing on the spot for so long) before he could do his job again.

Yeah, that's the problem we are talking about indeed. Hope you filled in the issue tracker. Really want this to be resolved.

It happens in career mode too, so it's not just because players lay their zoos out in a way not intended by the designers. Just had my warthogs starve to death in that Myers zoo scenario Greek island zoo because the keepers and vets could not make it down the stairs. I discovered that they would just stand there, shuffling their feet in the hallway above that stair case. I have had to check periodically and literally pick the stuck keeper, vet, or animal delivery person and place them on the lower level of the zoo.

Interestingly, the guests seemed to be able to navigate that stair case just fine. It was just the workers who had the issue, so maybe it's not quite the same issue?

The animal starving to death thing is one of the more annoying elements of the game. I can't imagine keepers refusing to feed the animals in a real zoo unless the zoo is so bankrupt there isn't any food and the workers have been laid off.

I think the problems are related yes. I've also had staff members getting stuck without guests in the way lately. I think it is a problem of the gridded zoo areas in general where guests and staff get stuck in between two grid pieces.
