griefers...dont you just love em....

I wonder, sometimes, about what motivates bullies. Their whole life experience dedicated to making other people miserable- what can a sane adult actually gain from that? Maybe some kind soul will explain?...

PVP motivations are wide and varied (and often entirely legitimate), but I saw post on Reddit once where someone boasted putting a commander back in a Sidewinder (i.e. they'd blown them up past their rebuy capacity). They said it "felt amazing". Some people are just wired differently, and have a chemical need to experience power over others. The lowest of these are the gankers, cowards who run in packs after the easiest targets.

I'm mainly a PG player so am not an authority on Open, but I have played in Open during a CG or 2 and have had fun delivering supplies until I get shot down by another player, then go back to PG. Working on the logic that in a CG the profits are so good that rebuy costs are much easier to make and that the person shooting my ship feels very 'manly' at blowing up such a dangerous craft (that doesn't shoot back or try to escape) so everyone is happy.

Mostly though I enjoy the knowledge that in a PG the biggest threat I face is a NPC that I am likely to escape interdiction easily, or crashing through not paying attention. That's all I really want from the game, a little 'threat' and a lot of fun.

I do play in Open when way out in the black, if a ganker/griefer can be bothered to go out 20KLy or so for a target then they deserve the opportunity :D

Yeah, System Authority...

During my last PvP engagement (a very long one, plenty of time for NPCs to react), I think they arrived... and left again clueless (!) no less than 6 or 7 times?
Or you're under attack and the first thing they do is... frantically try to scan you instead of engaging the other Ship that triggered the crime response in the 1st place, carrying that big Wanted Tag and keeps firing *lol*

They're good for a laugh basically in their unengineered little Ships and sometimes especially for their bizarre behavior.

Don't count on them against Player Ships, other than being helpless statists.
They're mostly still V1.0 era Ships and logic, thus there's often nothing they could do.

PS.
Recently I've had several occasions (PvE) where multiple arrived and turned against the Wanted NPC as expected.
However, during the fight more and more of them started turning on me for no visible or apparent reason. In the end, I was facing 3 green Authority Ships and 3 red ones firing at me. No fines, no HUD Warnings, nothing.
They just went aggro on me for no reason, seems a known bug.
At least they're good for a few unexpected surprises after all with their weird actions xD
