Griefing?

Is there alot of griefing? Day Z or GTA Online kind of griefing? Or is everything pretty mature and not a bunch of little kids with nothing better to do?

It's generally blown out of proportion here on the forums. There's always the 1% who will be out to ruin your day but generally I've played 3-400 hours and haven't experienced any greifing myself unless you count the freeport bug back in premium beta and even then the solution was not to go to freeport :D

Think of it like DayZ except instead of only having access to Cherno, you have the whole solar system to wander around. You'll often be doing well just to see other people, so I think you'll be ok ;)

In months of play I have never been interdicted or attacked by another player in any way, let alone griefed. Your mileage may vary, depends where you go I guess, but it is certainly not rife, to the point where it can never happen at all.

This statement is moot until the game is officially released as then there will be a ton of players.
We will just have to see how bad it gets after the 16th tbh.
I have no doubt there will be a load of greifers as you get them in all online games.

[edit] Then there will be the ones that will slam into a wall while you're leaving or entering the station just for kicks.

I have been playing for a little over a month. I have been player interdicted less than 10 times. I have never had a player mess with me more than once. Part of the game is having to worry about player pirates and killers. If it is a one off time, then it is game mechanics. If you find that moving to a different system and they follow you to keep on trying to kill you, that is griefing, and I have yet to see that happen.

I have one thing to say about this post 400 BILLION STAR SYSTEMS.
Everyone can own their own piece of the Universe and never see another living soul in game ever.
If that isn't remote enough for you play SOLO, and never see another human being forever.

I've been playing for months in open, and only once has a player attempted to attack me. Even that was in Lugh, which is currently attracting a few PvP types. If you stick around normal trade routes you are unlikely to see this.

I'm pleased to say that when it happened to me, I sent the player running with his tail (and a few heat seeking missiles) between his legs.

EDIT: and if that player is reading - thanks, I enjoyed the encounter. Just sorry you weren't able to stick around for the main course. ;)

Yeah I agree there but most of the forum response towards the term "greifing" is down to different people having different definitions of the term. I've seen threads where players flying in open mode with no shields in an anarchy system who got killed by not submitting to piracy claiming that being killed by another player was greifing. If you hunt a player down constantly killing them then yes that's greifing but in the game there are so many ways to avoid it, solo mode, groups and blocking that greifing is moot at this point.

Currently it's all fairly civil. This will change with release, where there will be no doubt an increase of it and then I suspect it'll die down for quite some time until there are significant numbers of bored Anaconda and rich pilots.

I only once met a stupid Cobrapilot that interdicted me and tried to kill me in my Asp. I was rigged for transport and largely unarmed. Also i had no shields and was flying around looking for a new traderoute having no cargo. There was absolutely no point in attacking me but to waste his missileammomoney or annoy me.
I escaped. Just a waste of money/Time. Only thing he proved was that he is a di**.

I've been playing around Thiin and it's been quiet but yesterday there were more "real" cmdr's than I've ever seen. Noone wanted to talk though :(

Never been shot at by a human, just the stupid Fed bug aggroing me constantly when bounty hunting.

The only griefing I've experience is from the NPCs

No, your statement is moot as more players doesnt change the fact that there are max 32 on a session. But keep on believing that every one who likes PVP is a griefer...

I'm sorry, but flying without some defensive capability is asking for trouble - almost as bad as not keeping enough funds in reserve for insurance and cargo. This is Elite - whilst there is a "trader" role, that doesn't been you are absolved from any need to put up a defense from time to time. At the very least ensure you have the best shields and hull upgrades you can afford, so you can leg it when needed.
