Grind requirements are insane

You can also play the game by just looking at the ship on the main menu, and never do anything else. But somehow, I don't think that's the intended gameplay loop.
Perhaps the day will come and people will realize that a gameplay loop is just a grind which you don't recognize as such.
So everything to gain anything is a grind in itself.
And FD is really not good at hiding their stuphs.

Yeah but apparently it's our fault to use the tools and gameplay provided by Fdev to play. We are supposed to not see the grind, entirely our mistake.
It's quite the mental gymnastic to make this conclusion, so I'm fairly impressed.

Who force you to grind?
There is a lot of people who dont do it, what are they?

Who force you to grind?
The game.
Too much EHP makes high CZ not fun so I need to upgrade my guns to do somewhhat good damage. If I am on the night side of the planet I want to use night vision cuz torch is awful. Stock scope for 'sniper rifle' is trash, so I want to have a good one. If for some reason I want to change any of engineering mods on any of my gear I have to start from g1 or if I get lucky g2 or g3.
The game forces me to get best equipment to play with some sort of 'comfort'. If you are ok with everything that's fine. I'm not. A lot of people during alphas told about how massive and bad grind is, and it's been reduced a bit for upgrading, but that's not enough. Now we have engineers that require even more grind.
On top of that we don't have separated categories for mats so I just can't spend a month on grinding everything and forget about it for a year like I did with EDH mats.

Your "comfort" is subjective.

Updated the initial post with this:

After more than 3 weeks of intensively playing EDO, about 2 to 4 hours per day, doing about 100 missions (Restore, Reactivation primarily) and about 30 settlement loot raids (at deactivated sites, without mission) I was able to:
  • upgrade the Maverick suite from 2 to 4
  • upgrade the Executioner from 2 to 5
  • upgrade the Tormentor from 1 to 3
  • unlock Domino Green
  • got the backpack extension for the Maverick suite
  • collected 4 (four!) Opinion Polls
At settlements I "relogged" once. For Manufacturing Instructions I relogged extensively. For Power Regulators I take Restore missions and abandon them. Currently, I'm missing Suite Schematics and Ionised Gas. Not to speak about all those funny things that you need in ridiculous large numbers to unlock engineers.

Don't get me wrong I like the settlement missions and the other EDO surface sites. I don't like the leg shooting. I also think it's ok that FDev designed the grind to let the player get to know every part of Odyssey. Though, in its current form the grind is massive and not balanced. This will not attract a lot of new players.

For the time being I'll just ignore the engineer unlock.

If you think about FPS, with a few exceptions like the Stalker series or Far Cry 2+, there is no grind at all :)
