Grinding at Jameson's Crash site

Greetings,

Well, this weekend I spent a lot of hours with about 60 runs to Jameson's Crash Site farming Adaptive Encryptors Capture materials then trading them at Ray Gateway in Diaguandri to max out my encoded materials. They are the hardest to find scanning ships from a previous Frontier nerf where only the controlling faction in a system displays the current status in a system. If they have a boom they won't show a famine in the same system with another faction where a player could farm Datamine Wake Exceptions. Now we have to fly and look for them.

I think that this was a past neft that Frontier applied where evil players were shutting down popular systems. That is the good news, The bad news is that they also shut down finding encoded G5 materials scanning the right ships in a system for encoded materials taking longer to find them. So 14 more runs and I max out all the G5 encoded materials. Raw and manufactured were so much easier to max out but it is the current game I'm playing. Your play style may differ.

Still I got a rare shot of Jameson's Crash Site with some sunlight. Meanwhile there are dozens of fleet carriers parked there. I have to go Solo as there is only one spot at Jameson's that scans all four comms without moving the SRV and there is a PvPer at the Diaguandri looking to kill my cold running Asp Explorer. But the system chat works across all three modes alerting others to PvPers.

Enjoy.

Sorry but why?
Probably a stupid question.
My wingmate is unique hehe. By that I mean a really knowledgeable and good friend.

To never have to think about it again? (for certain values of "never", those mats seem to go in a hurry sometimes :) ).

That's the reason why I went to the crystal shard site. Then I felt vaguely "dirty" about it, not to mention that the mats ran low the moment I decided to engineer one of my old favorite ships, so really not much of a bonus there. Then I realized that if I just landed occasionally at geo/bio sites with raw mats I hadn't yet filled and drove around a bit, shooting and scooping, I'd keep them topped off while having quite a good time, finding some magnificent views on occasion and giving me a reason to do something other than honk/FSS/DSS every jump while exploring. All while not having to go out of my way, just using what I came across on my exploring way anyway.

I won't see the shard site ever again.

To OP: Nice screenie!!! I was beginning to suspect that Jameson's last rest was tidally locked :)

I did that some time ago, probably in April or so. As for the reasons, two fold - one of ego and one of practicality:

  • Ego. To be able to say ”I’ve done that”.
  • Practicality: I have basically not had to farm materials since - and I have fully engineered many ships (including some combat oriented ones). First time I looked for materials again was last week, when I ran out of Core Dynamics composites for the HRPs on my AX Chieftain.

The second reason has a higher weight than the first though. At least for me.

Must admit I did goto the crystal forest too. Can't not go pick up a hge if it's nearby as I travel. And scanning wakes locking onto haulers etc is second nature to me hehe. My mats average 50 each across the board and I've 6 engineered ships and working on a 7th.
Wish we could buy n sell em. Mats I meant.

If you fancy a change this is almost as good for enc mats and provides 3 cargo racks for g5 raws, also the added bonus of Thargs buzzing around for the funzies.

Bug Killer is a crashed Anaconda in the HIP 16613 system on planet 1 a at -11.0093, -95.6755
There is also an SRV at -11.0962, -96.0339 – you can find it from the ship by taking a bearing of 270 (also there is a green glow around the SRV which is visible from the Anaconda).
It may be worth travelling from one to the other by SRV as the planet gives Arsenic in outcrops.

Once I topped off my data at Jameson, I usually only have to make a couple trips to top it all off again after fully engineering a ship. Same for raws. I filled up once, and then every ship or two I engineer, I just use my G4's to top off everything else then go hit up the crystaline shards one time to top them off. Manufactured I tend to get from mission rewards and just killing ships then trade up periodically for G5's. Hit up Dav's now and again usually just looking to see if a ganker is there to add to block, then do a couple runs.
Most of my ships are already over engineered. I am getting to the point where I use my mats more to make limpets, refuel SRV, or reload munitions than I do for actual engineering.

I did this recently for engineering purposes. I got to wondering as some have said the egg exploit is no different than Jameson/Dav's Hope. While I only partially agree I also just did a grind for the guardian stuff and I realized there aren't many if any other ways to achieve guardian stuff without doing that grind.

Oh well. Grats on the grind. I am sure I'll be back myself here in the near future as I have more engineering to do. Need to make a long range Anaconda for Colonia.

Because like Mt Everest it is there! Players like me who know a lot about playing ED in our narrow world make up our own mini-games as in let's max out all the mats. There is a pecular shield frequency data mat that regenerates shields with a supporting player while taking out the bad guys. I've never used it but being in the Ghost Legion Squadron it might come up later.

Been there and done that if I want Ruthenium or other very rare materials But I found easier and faster ways to get them in an SRV. Still I loved avoiding the
Thargoids scanning the Bug Killer area.

Playing this game WAY too long since Bell and Braben figured it out in 1984 I love seeing the ED version of the original Cobra Mk III at Jameson's.Crash site. Brings an emotional tear to my eye...

Seriously. Although this game doesn't have the greatest method of delivering lore to the average CMDR who has no Elite experienced, the audio logs found in at the Jameson Crash Site are tear jerkers indeed. What a sad and lonely end :(

Greetings,

Well a week and maybe 100 or more trips to Jameson's crash site I have finally maxed out all the G5 encoded materials. Here's some proof and note that I will probably never need them. Not my play style. But like climbing Mt Everest it was a challenge ED mini-game and I didn't freeze doing it.

Encoded are the hardest to find as most require scanning ships and with luck get a hit 1 in 20. Could take months so an awful 6:1 trading Adaptive Encryptors Capture materials takes only a week. But I did the grind hopefully never doing it again.

I went Solo mode as there is a small space where the turret on an SRV can scan all four comms links without moving per the picture below. Thus it could get crowded especially since there are dozens of fleet carriers parked in orbit around this planet. If only I could sell Adaptive Encryptors Capture materials...

I'm an expert at finding every material in the game. It is my mini-game. Raw is the easiest and the most fun in an SRV. Manufactured takes a little more work. Encoded is a real pain. Any new players starting to find raw materials go to go to EL TIO 3 E A to stock up on a lot of what you will need.

What next? I have about 90 percent of all the Guardian materials and maybe 80 percent of the Thargoid mats. Maybe I should fly back to my carrier in Beta-1 Tucanae, swap out my current cool running Asp Explorer for the dedicated Krait MK II designed to deal with Guardian and Thargoid sites. Something to do until the Devs un-nerfs the popularity of players in Open mode trading in Tritium.

Other posts mentioned a new very rare material added to the game called 'Nerfium'. Made me laugh and is totally appropriate. I'm flying back to Beta-1 Tucanae in Open mode. Take your best shot...Oops too late. Off to go play with the Guardians.

Regards

That's one of the funniest posts I've read in ages hahaha!
"My mate is really strange .... he's a good friend!!"

Not mocking you dude - it's the sort of thing I'd write, then be too lazy to edit! ;)

When I cruise a system looking for haulers to interdict and steal their LTD from, I scan so many ships within an hour, the Data-Storage goes full rather quickly. That is even no grind for me, as this is part of a pirates day of work. No relog needed.

I thought this was nurfed? I went there, scanned the beacons and got zip! No data, nothing! Did I do something wrong?

@Hooplah have you tried to hack com arrays of researcher megaship for data?

HR 7291 Lowell-class Researcher [BD-17 5832]. It is currently in anarchy system so no need to silent running while hacking. It drops even MEF.

EDIT: Ah, keep in mind that it can depart after the weekly tick. There is one more science mega-ship going to that system but I do not know when it will arrive.

I scan ships all the time as part of being aware of my surroundings. Great for filling up lower class encoded materials. Not so great for the high class ones maybe getting 1 hit in 20 scans.
