It needs an entire module slot.

I don't think it's worth it, but that's just my opinion.

The class 5 internal gives 10 extra LY, with 125% added fuel usage? I don't see myself ever even spending the mats to unlock it, TBH.

I think the cost of an internal slot is enough of a drawback that it shouldn't even have the extra fuel usage. Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but that's just how I see it, and that's the only way I'd use one.

I'd have to sacrifice an afmu or cargo space on my asp for this... sucks

Yeah, the more I think about it, the less attractive it looks even if it didn't have extra fuel usage. Best case scenario, you're giving up a lot for a class 5 slot that gives you 10 LY. A lot of ship configurations couldn't afford to even fit a class 5, and the deals just don't seem to stack up for lower class sizes either.

yea its bad, even for a starved jump range ship its bad, they should balance it and reduce some drawback like a lot to make it worth it
