Newcomer / Intro Guardian Grind

Hi all,

I am on my maiden mission at a guardian site to collect the module blueprint. Just a quick question - I was very close to finishing up the mission and I had troubles scanning the orb at the end. I managed to scan it but a few sentinels appeared at the end and caught me off guard. For some reason my primary fire didn't work and in a state of panic I exited the game.

I am wondering whether I have to repeat everything again? 😔

As long as you completed the scan of the orb then you got the blueprint. Sentinels always show up right after you scan it so you should be fine. You were probably still in analysis mode, that's why your guns wouldn't fire.

Check your inventory. The blueprint is encoded data so if you did get it, it will be listed.

It's funny: there seems to a run on Guardian stuff at the moment. I've just done a blueprint stint myself :D

When the orb pops up, there's a couple of seconds before you can actually target and scan it.
Don't panic, full pips to shield, wait, target and scan.

Iirc, you used to have charge the pylons in a specific order and the one near the ball gate (arf) attracted four sentinels. *

* this may be incorrect due to creeping senility

Is one enough? While you're there, why not get a few more?

Definitely no harm getting a few more but I am done. Just to looking forward to leaving the site and moving on. Think I will just settle for a 5 rating fsd module...compared to other grindings I have done like Dav's hope and empire ranking etc this one felt the most creepiest

Once you know the site and where things spawn you can pretty much zip around and clean up any drones real quick. I'm also out at a site right now gathering up module BPs. You only need like 5 in total of those, so not too hard to do. Getting the weapons though, eugh, that ones looks like a real ball ache. Might just grab enough for the Gauss cannons and call it on those.

Apart from that, I suppose also just getting enough of all the various guardian mats and datas is the other tricky part. Seem to be having real trouble finding Tech Components, which looks like you need quite a lot of.

Those components... can't count how many times I've shot the destructables and had them stick up there. If I was lucky, I could use the SRV boosters to jump up with the cargo hatch deployed and grab 'em.

Yes those tech components are a pain. I needed to relog back in to blast the panels. Kept getting more and power powercells and conduits. And I didn't want to go all over the site esp to the altar areas so just kept farming at the lower areas. Anyway all I wanted was the dad booster at the end of the day. Managed to get all the required materials including the HN shock mounts so all done on my end.

Not sure when I will come back to this grind again but I don't know if it's really worth the effort to fly ~1000 lys to a an obscure location and go thru the grind and fly back. As I said I the whole site just gave me the creeps and I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Looking back, I guess what motivated me to make the trip was that I felt it would be rather unfortunate to embark on a tour of the galaxy without having the guardian booster fsfld module. Didnt want to feel any sort of regrets when I am 20-30k LYs from the bubble telling myself I should have gotten the guardian fsd.

Likely I'll just keep transfering the guardian module in and out of my fleet. After all, at the end of the day you can only fly one ship at a time...
Err, once you've unlocked it, you can buy as many as you want, any size, for cash.
