Guardians Discussions

Looks like there are some structures in NGC 2451A Sector
There was one on Canonn records found end of March, then cmdr Mazelinho found another one yesterday, so I made a trip and found two new ones today. I am not that lucky, so I would expect lots more in the area...

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ed-Ships-etc?p=6625056&viewfull=1#post6625056

Just found another one, so for today it is:
NGC 2451A Sector DL-Y d61 A 2 70.0007 -38.5384
NGC 2451A Sector MC-V c2-5 E 1 52.0385 110.8552
NGC 2451A Sector TY-R b4-6 C 1 -23.7554 36.7087

Two of sites in NGC are on volcanic bodies so they have brain trees, I think this is bit unusual...

Only the other night I was bemoaning is being stuck at 59 - now another 4 - excellent :)

Would be cool if there was a real G-curse.

The constructs, having partly installed themselves, constantly nudge you closer to danger.

Undocking? Beef the mailslot. Approaching a body? Throttle and steering lock up when close and the impact light turns on. Using free jumponium? Get pushed almost only into the star. Landing? Thrust and shields go offline. In battle? Weapons periodically retract, shields go offline and FSD turns off every 30 seconds. Wanted? 3x bounty hunters, as they are getting messages about “the big one.” Have cargo? 3x pirates hearing about a multimillion dollar load in your hull.

Would like to see it affect the ship it got in to, with no way to stop it for a week, then a CG to discover the cure and eventually another to craft an “anti-virus” module.

Shoosh! Despite popular belief THEY are reading this forums and last thing I need is to G-curse become more real than it already is ;)

Lol.

Digressing, maybe this link could help people figure out the meaning behind the 7 pulses from the obelisks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7

Has anyone tried to use a barcode reader app on the specrograms? Or had a SAP-8 in their SRV? (Maybe SAP-8 is an RFID/NFC device, or more simply the “barcode” is actually an RFID/NFC ping? Maybe you need two SAP-8 canisters, to make a 16-bit double octet memory address for the 8-bit “barcode.”

Probably also worth reading Gartner’s Hype Cycle on Emerging Tech, for inspiration as to what might have been inspiring game design. A whole lot of these techs were used by the guardians, as we have come to learn. https://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2575515 <2013 https://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/3784363 <2017)

Do we have a list of all known Guardian structures?

Better yet, can someone post a graphic depicting all known Guardian Ruins (colored yellow) and Guardian Structures (colored blue) on a Galmap overlay? Preferably one that both shows the top down galaxy view and side view, if possible add close ups of the individual 'bubbles'. I have a few theories I'd like to test... Thanks in advance!

Careful there is a couple of in game stories where a "virus" code pretty much fragged everybody.

Off the top of my head. There was the skimmer one. There was also the one where the crew tried to isolate the malfunctions. They determined they needed to reboot the ships system. Before they got a chance though the AI purged the life support. Crew suspected the code was put in before it left the bubble. Both incidents happened North of the bubble.

I believe there was one or two more similar incidents. Very distinct from the Screecher incidents.

The Ancient Relics appear to pulse in a non-regular fashion when dropped in space. The ship has to be within ~20m of the relic for the pulsing to be obvious. When multiple relics are dropped the pulses did not appear to be synced up.

I think so. I have a feeling that the Mars relic is really a Guardian AI implant device. I also think it's connected to Raxxla.

In The Dark Wheel, Raxxla is described in the following way: "on Raxxla there's an alien construct that's a gateway to other Universes, and all that's in those Universes in the way of bounty, and treasures, and aliens, and life…"

The wording 'alien construct' is particularly interesting, as the Guaridan AI have now been named 'Constructs'.

In that case it's not to far fetched to view the other universes, as a massive virtual reality that has been developed by sentient AI over the last few million years.

This is of course pure speculation. :D
I like the cut of your tinfoil, sir.

Given that mathematics is the universal language I would expect that the possible solution to this would be the same. If we are not all suffering from Apophenia or pareidolia.

and from page 93:
Theory time: it will be short because it isn't anything sophisticated and could be dumb.

Steps:
1. The Elite logo reminds me of Set, the Egyptian God that fought the evil serpent Apep
2. Could be, that this figure is in fact a Guardian, protector of humanity?
3. If yes it could provide an interesting entanglement, i.e. some ancient mysteries might have something to do with the Guardians?

Yes, I know we and the Guardians are apparently million years apart. But who knows whether pockets of remaining Guardians remained, found shelter on Earth in prehistoric times, and perhaps some of their heritage is found by ancient Egyptians?

Wow - I mean, WOW - you both ! I strongly agree to that. When watching the Guardian ruins and sites I always had the impression of some "egyptian" style in all of that. What does also perfectly fit to the ancient Egypt theme: most (or all) ruins contain 3-sided pyramids. The Guardians, as it is lore, also featured some kind of death cult, an equivalent we find in the Guardian relics as casket, totem and urn; in a broader sense maybe also tablet and orb. Regarding the number "7" that you both have mentioned, and regarding that nearly everything Guardian related uses the number "3" - what about if bring prime factors in general to the Guardian theme/consideration ?

EDIT: From english Wikipedia: "7 was considered a God number in ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh usually ordered things in groups of multiples of 7. For a time, 7 was not even used in writings for the people of Egypt." . Quite interesting !

@TheHavoc and others.

From Wikipedia:
"Prime numbers have influenced many artists and writers. The French composer Oliver Messaien used prime numbers to create ametrical music through 'natural phenomena.'"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_number#Constructible_polygons_and_polygon_partitions

Maybe the obelisks are just in never-ending song, without repeats...that is, if you don't take what came before and comes next to figure out the factors masking the ordered chaos.

It could be relatively simple encryption or scrambling, in the same light.

Regarding Guardian culture I found some more very interesting parallels to the ancient Egypt on Earth:

- as optimal_909 said on page 93, the Elite logo in fact looks like an egyptian god – but in my opinion it is more Ra (the Sun god or the major god > Elite  ) OR Horus; Ra has a falcon head in
human form, sometimes even with wings; Horus also is being portrayed as a man with falcon head or as a “complete” falcon
- one of the typical symbols of Ra was the obelisk (!)
- Horus fought a major war, the war of the gods (Thargoids – Guardians ?)
- we know that the Guardians devided in two factions – the technique – mad faction and the traditional/religious faction; this could be a parallel to the egypt mythology when the first realm was devided into two

Please check out images from egyptian temples and their view from the top/aerial images, I don’t want to link here as I don’t know if allowed. What do you think ? If these pictures do not remind of the Guardian structures I don’t know….
How can we put this together within the game ? I think one way could be to check Sol a bit further, but whether it leads to an outcome is (of course) the other question. But why shouldn’t this stuff link together with ancient egyption mythology as some Formidine Rift clues did ? Didn’t Salomé also head for Sol on the event April 29th in 3303 ? Unfortunately she did not make it…... It also needs to be Sol by force, but it came to my mind because Egypt is on Earth (as we all know :) ).

The first artifact that has been found according to the lore (IIRC) was from Mars - also there were lots of fictions about pyramids and face on Mars (ZakMckrackern and the Alien Mindbenders :) ).
However, even if the idea is right, I don't think we can complete the puzzle in-game yet.

Anyway, many thanks for the credit, it was really an uneducated guess led by an impression. :)
I thought for quite some time, that the logo looks Egyptian, also I was wondering why exactly the Pilots Federation is using it. Then came the Guardian stuff with all the sites incl. hieroglyphs... the more I think about it, the less weird the idea looks like.

I used to think the same way. Puzzle in the obelisk pattern. I had even believed I was getting close as I was starting to document patterns in the sequence. At the end it turned out to be nothing as FDEV just arbitrarily got rid of it, after multiple times we asked if it was or was not a puzzle.

Now I just wait until the switches are flipped on. This sandbox runs on rails, and it's at their pace.

Took me a while to come to terms with that.
