Guess I'm Done?

Some people need to have other people reaffirm and support their decisions and often lack the self confidence to make “life changing” decisions by themselves.

It’s also a Facebook thing.

Calm down. I'm taking a break from the game, not filing for divorce. Its not that serious lol.

EDIT:
Oh, and I uninstalled to free up some HD space (I've got cleaning to do there).
And to keep myself from logging in.
...And to be a bit dramatic about it.

For some, no doubt.

.... actually, is someone not developing just such a game?

Are they? Do you know more, or is it just something you've heard in passing?

As an aside: I'd like to see the next X game have a touch of multiplayer. Not MMO-scale because I don't think Egosoft could (or should) make that leap, but something like 64 players maximum per server should be easily achievable and fun to play.

Op is making the right decision, albeit a bit forum dramaqueen about it, but hey enjoyed Yamik's video so that was cool - you cant play something for ever without getting burned out no matter how good or bad it is. So you get to a point where you cant face logging in and you do something else like painting your dog or designing a minature car catapult or something. Then one day, weeks, months or years later you get that urge out of the blue to try that thing you played a while back and seem to remember enjoying. So you load it up and go 'Woooo, this is fun, Ohoh that's new! Crap how do I land again?' and the cycle starts anew.

So good call Op, everyone needs to do it at some point and you'll know when the time is right to both leave and return.

Uninstalled, Left some groups, moving on from Elite... At least for a while.
No, you can't have my stuff (only because it isn't a feature lol).

Why?

Exhibit A:

Its no secret that the game hasn't lived up to all of its hopes and dreams, but there really isn't any sign that its going to magically turn around either.
So until that changes, I'm going into retirement as a pilot.

Exhibit B:

I've really run out of things to do. The worst thing I did in game was buy and engineer a Cutter. Once you reach the end of the line, there's not much else to do.
I've been to The Center, I've discovered ELW's, I've fought pirates for hours, I've smuggled slaves, I did the pre-3.0 rank grind, I explored Thargoid and Guardian ruins, I've cleared my save twice for kicks, and I fought Ed in a CQC livestream. I even survived CG's to buy an Anaconda in 5 months.
I haven't gone to Beagle Point because I refused to watch that many episodes of Star Trek lol.
I also never combat logged, never used "credit exploits", or "griefed".

So yeah, I think I've earned a break. I'll probably redownload the game later on and do a fresh start.
See you in a few months (years?), I guess?

Yeah a break now and again is a good thing. I've done it myself, in fact I'm playing a few other games at the mo as well to mix it up a little.

No need to post and let folks know about it though, just go ahead and do it I would probably say.

Also I get what you mean about the whole Cutter (end game) comment. I felt the same and it turns out I rarely fly my Cutter now. I've been into ED a long time and i also "had" a Corvette and actually sold that as it sat there unused. I went back and started enjoying some of the smaller/medium ships again. They're much better to fly and I've been having an absolute blast in the Vulture with APA's. If you know anyone who plays as well then teaming up is hilarious. I occasionally fly with a colleague at work and it's so much better to be talking to each other and doing stuff as a team or in multi crew, so there's another suggestion. Oh and do you have VR? It'll change the game for you - amazing on an Oculus.

Anyway the next content drop will be due in the next few months I hope, so at that point maybe you could drop back in.

have a happy time OP
have a go on a few other games then come back later on.

Life isn't one game. It trips you up when you think it is.

I quit every day. Usually after 2-3 hours of playing. I just don't bother with the "uninstall then re-install" since it takes so much time to do that on a DSL line.

Sometimes I don't play for two whole days in a row. IN A ROW!
And then I go back for the eye-candy.

Hello. My name is Leadfoot and I'm an Elite-Dangerous-aholic.

As a Kickstarter to this game I have had many occasions where I felt that I have had enough and maybe I should move on.
But what saved this game for me was VR.
Now I find that Elite is no longer a game to me but a real place I can go to and forget the outside world while I lose myself in the immersion.
I do admit pure enjoyment is lacking from my experience at present and not being able to have a smooth multi- play experience is not helping that.
I would love to take on Thargoids with others. I can solo Cyclops and Basallix all day on my own but put me in a wing with others and for me they are nearly imposible to kill!
New exploration tools is what I have the most anticipation for, that and VR combined and I should be set for a good while hopefully.
And not forgetting also that at some point the VR experience one day will be even more immersive in 8k vision (with a suitable GPU hopefully).
All these things added together will always prevent me from totally walking away from Elite no matter what may turn up in the future.

Fly safe
CMDR Q!!!!

I never understood the unistall thing, have all these people got tiny HD's or somthing. I have a lot of games and yeah a lot of them are not installed but mainly due to the not playing them since I reinstalled windows last, I dotn even know how much space ED takes. I ve not played since October, and dont think I wiill be back for sometime but not felt the need to uinstall the game.

Maybe when space get tight I might..

Just watched the vid, yeah have to agree with whats his name, overall horizions had its good but so much bad has left me wanting and wondering when or indeed if I will be back.
It's not the size of the hard disk that counts, but how you use it.

So until that changes, I'm going into retirement as a pilot.

I'm pleased with the Beyond updates so far that have improved the game. I'm still eagerly awaiting better mission scenarios, player owned capital ships, atmospheric planets, space legs and custom HUDs.

Yeah, I've kind or fan out of things to do also, so I went exploring. Just log in from time to time, play for a bit, then do something else.
