Also off topic , but in the UK we call it an orange melonI know it's off topic but I always find it funny that people from America call it a cantaloupe. I've always known those as rockmelons.

As if crowds weren't an issue before, wait until 5 bus loads of school kids charge into the zoo!I love the idea of school groups as a group type, and maybe educational classroom rabbitholes for them to go into.
Just like real life :/As if crowds weren't an issue before, wait until 5 bus loads of school kids charge into the zoo!
You just gave me the idea. What if we got a new path type called roads which you could put car spanners at the end of. You could place primate parking lots joint to the road and then cars would do a parking animation and guests would just magically spawn out of them. We could finally make real parking lots.As if crowds weren't an issue before, wait until 5 bus loads of school kids charge into the zoo!

So my turn.
Imo i feel like an rainforest animal pack or islands scenery pack, with the other being for sure revisited if we get another year of support.
Im gonna make 2 drafts for each, my own dreams drafts of what id want in a world where we get both down the line and 2 of what i think will be more realistic choices.
Starting boring, island scenery pack, no explanation needed:
- Tassie Devil
- Fossa
- Kiwi
- Tree Kangaroo
- Idc maybe bali minah or japanese giant salamander
I personally really, really, really dont want this pack, because while i understand that its objectivly pretty based with all animals arguably atleast being a 7/10 with all of them having arguments for a 10/10, this pack would just be so extremly boring and hyperspecific.
What i mean with that is that from a gameplay side we really wouldnt get much new here besides maybe our first WE birds, which literally every pack could offer.
We got a small carnivoran, a small to medium climbing "cat" which ironically gameplaywise would be the most unique as africa has near zero arboreal non primates, a blob and a rather slow oceanian climber.
Flexibility wise, if you arnt building an oceania area/in oceania, you got 2 animals that could be nice smaller animals for tropical houses, 3 candidates for nocturnal houses (which afaik nobody really builds) and the exhibit animal and what it would bring to the table. Most notably does the kiwi in particular add next to nothing to a rather realistic zoo build outside of new zealand, as its pretty much like a second panda, which is cool if you like the kiwi, but imo we really dont need a second super rare animal only found in the creme de la creme of zoos around the world. Its simply super limiting and something like a quail or a guinea fowl that mostly would fill the same gameplay niche as a kiwi would be 200 times more interesting and usefull for building small to big zoos all around the world.
But luckily thats why i got a more fun dream pack aswell, speaking of
Islands Dream:
- White Cheeked Pintail: South American Duck that while not endemic to islands is found both in the carribeans and the galapagos islands (also known as bahama pintail), while looking both generic and unique enough to work well as both our first/only duck while also being able to differentiate itself once we get more

All our non lemure primates are tailless besides 2, so a third really should come to the game. It also really helps that they are the most common Langur in the EAZA and come in not one but 2 very distinct colormorphs of black and orange, bringing some color into our mostly black primates.
- Shetland Pony: Very Common Domestic breed in petting zoos, different size and color variation would give it alot to stand apart from other equiines
- Parsons Chameleon: The largest chameleon and among the most unique critters left from Madagascar, which says alot. Would be large enough to be a habitat animal ergo it should be one and give us our first arboreal habitat reptile
- Tree Kangaroo: I dont care which one, but like the chameleon a super unique animal for the game that gives new guinea some representation
- Rhinoceros Iguana: Very cool species that would also force frontier to make iguana animations, giving them literally no reason to not upgrade the iguanas to habitat animals. Win win win
- Tassie Devil: imo really boring animal as it would gameplay wise be just another small carnivore, but we dont have a non invasive one for oceania yet so they defenetly do have a place in the roster even if im certanly burned out on them.
- Java Langur: Imo each pack that can should bring a primate to the game. I thought a lot about these guys vs the sulawesi crested macaque as the indonesia representative of the pack and i choose thd java langur for one main reason: the tail.

WE: Bali Mynah: Posterchild of the Sounds of SEA campaign trying to protect the SEA song birds, very common in zoos and visually striking.
Gonna make a 2. Post for rainforest later
Top marks for effortOkay part 2. So for a realistic rainforest pack id say:
WE: Any SINGLE Parrot, imo the 3 most likly choices are Sun concures, Rainbow Lorikeets and African Grey parrots as all 3 are small and common in zoos. Could also be macaws but i wouldnt be surprised if they were hold back as this pack allready would be quite the crowd pleaser.
- Ocelot: Frontier loves their cats and its arguably one of the most iconic ones left with a broad range and rather common in zoos
- Black Howler Monkey: Arguably the best new chorus user that also should be rather easy to implement as a large monkey. Would be a waste of that behaviour system if we dont see them)
- South American Coati: Super common but relativly easy animal to make. Also another carnivora member so bonus points in liklyness)
- Red River Hog: Easy to make, a community favorite, free money)
- Lowland Anoa: Feels like a fitting frontier wild card, decently common in zoos and rather unknown but visually distinct like the nile lechwe for example)
- Victoria Crowned Pidgeon: Rather easy to make bird from the peafowl that would please alot of People. Very good key art or trailer animal, wouldnt be surprised to see them as the headliner
- Dwarf Crocodile: "Clone" of the pack, easy to make but distinct and common, fills the no African crocodile niche
Im honest, i like this pack. It feels like something frontier would and could do with a decently varried mix of animals that would also be another patch for SA, giving it arguably 3 of its strongest missing contenders. The pack might only have one monkey, but it would be acceptable as the general roster is varried and has only atleast somewhat popular animals and a crocodile. Also one WE species cause you all got drunk on hopium after the butterflys, who didnt even need new sounds or models as the wings are just textures. The difference of workload and cost between 5 lorikeets vs 5 butterflies is massive. I wont complain if they turn this into a trend obviously, but im more then hesitant to bet on it.
I would be very happy if we got this pack and in fact dont even feel like making a second dream one, cause while a second monkey or a more creative reptile would be dope, i could more then accept this pack, but hey what i said is what i did so heres the dream version:
- South American Coati: Same as above, they are extremly versatile and common both in all kinds of themed areas (tropical houses, small mammal houses, invasives, south america, children zoos) or just as random filler, while also adding another arboreal animal to South america which is desperatly needed.
- Cotton Top Tamarin: My personal favorive choice of tamarin, black howler is the more economical and save bet and while good, a tamarin would add much more thanks to their sheer presence in zoos, as most have atleast one if not multiple species. I like the cotton top most due to their shaggy look and striking colors, both things not yet found in our primate selection outside of lemures, while also being the most common in zoos.
- Fossa: While i left them out in my dream pack, thats not cause i dont want them but because id rather have them here, eventhough i only realised by now that its much more likly to swap places with the chameleon as the other pack only has 2 placenta mammals. Ooops. Anyways, the fossa would do a great job of diversifiying africa and giving it an arboreal non primate presance thats also quite flexible for general tropical houses, nocturnal houses, filler and highlight exhibit. A hightier flexible animal that for sure would be missed if left out.
- De Brazas Guenon: I hinted on it above, but imo a tropical pack should have a second primate and the region most in need is central africa. I choose the De brazas, because its more colorfull than the guereza, has a second niche in being a tropical wetlands animal fitting perfectly next to hippos in a hippo house and being quite territorial for monkeys, not tollerating most other species or their own if not related/their mate.
- Victoria Crowned Pidgeon: We need more birds and this one is THE free flying/walking bird in tropical houses. Striking looks and being from new guinea give it extra points.
- Pig Nosed Turtle: Besides no second monkey, my second small gribe with the pack above was that a different reptile would be more interesting and to keep a diver in the pack, the pig nosed turtle would fit perfectly. Super common in zoos and propaply the closest to a fully aquatic animal we could possibly get, theyd enable very unique habitat builds and would enhance north australia and new guinea, while fitting extremly well in themed areas with either the victoria crowned pidgeon, tree kangaroo and cassowary for new guinea or the platypus and saltwater crocodile for australian wetlands, giving it some nice multifunctionallity. Also a great addition to reptile houses.
- Red River Hog/Low Land Anoa: To perfectly come together, this pack needs an ungulate with 2 main options. Both have their pros and cons, depending on how much you care about tropical africa vs sulawesi/more asian animals. Objectivly speaking, both are common, are visually distinct, would fill the niche of small to medizm sized tropical ungulate and both also work well as filler or as part of themed areas, but both arnt really needed eventhough theyd be good additions. Pretend like i choose the one you personally like more as my opinion on that changes daily
- New Exhibit Type, Aquarium: Customisable South America Aquarium with different species looping at different places when present. Options for species: Red Bellied Piranha (only available alone), Neon Tetra ("Free" Swimming Loops in groups), Ram cichlid (Looping between vegitation), Oscar fish (Looping around submerged branches, 2. most common south american fish in the EAZA after the red bellied piranha), Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps aka an Armored Catfish (Looping around the bottom and the glass, most common catfish in the EAZA), Freshwater Angle fish ("Free" Swimming Loops), some more would be cool, but 6 exhibit animals for one are allready alot. Deliberatly left out the pacu and a arowana species, as they seem less easily be able to more or less attatched in their loops to an enritchment item like the other fish are.
And thats my rainforest packs. Honestly eventhough one is my "dream" pack, the main differentiator is that i included some more wild animals in the dream one, but i personally like both equally, maybe leaning towards liking the "boring" one more, as while i find the individual animals in the second pack more interesting, imo the first one is still a really nice package that would satisfy most of my needs for a tropical pack. Id really love some more whacky picks but a tried and tested roster doesnt have to be bad if all of its choices are as solid as in this case. Anyways, id love to get a rainforest pack, but which one would you guys like more?
Cause man i really cant decide.
The dwarf crocodile is from central africa thoughTop marks for effortalthough the dwarf crocodile does seem an odd pick , I can't stand another reptile that isn't from Africa
Im thinking of the caiman aren't I . Ignore my comment thenThe dwarf crocodile is from central africa though
My guess is still an islands scenery pack and i'm much more excited for it than you are apparently lol. I would be ok with a victoria crowned pigeon instead of the kiwi for it but i think NZ deserves some rep in the game and an island pack without any NZ animals just feel wrong.Okay part 2. Totally support this idea solely for the naturalistic piecesImma throw a curveball here and say that Islands and Children's Zoo are what we WON'T get...
I'm predicting:
Treetops DLC
Hayo, zookeepers. We're pleased to announce the newest addition to the Planet Zoo collection, the Treetops DLC. Featuring 5 unique species that make their lives in the trees. Sing some opera with the black howler monkey; hop from branch to branch with the Goodfellow's tree kangaroo; doze off with Hoffman's two-toed sloth; sneak around with the elusive ocelot; and steal some fruit with the Indian flying fox.
The pack will also come with a smorgasbord of new, naturalistic pieces to resemble the treetops, along with new foliage for your animals to climb.
Keyart animal: Black Howler Monkey
Keyart color: Lime yellow
Love the pack idea and the roster (except the flying fox, i think with a pack like this we have to get birds for WE exhibits).Imma throw a curveball here and say that Islands and Children's Zoo are what we WON'T get...

It's been on the back of my mind and probably other people's too. I've said it before, if it's not what comes out in Q1 2023 it's probably not going to happen. Which is alright, I guess...but if that's the case I feel like Frontier really needs to start putting more non-mammals in the packs.Honestly, they tried to play unpredictable. We exacted something and we didn't get it, and we get something totally different.
Seems like the aviary fire had die down since we got didn't get in Oct and Dec 22. Now no one is thinking about it, so I guess this spring we could get the aviary pack.
Yeah. I went with this to not get super hyped about birdsexcept the flying fox, i think with a pack like this we have to get birds for WE exhibits).
Likely, yeah. But I figured that we've gotten thrown some curveballs in the KAs, so this may be another oneAlso the sloth is the most likely candidate for the KA animal i think.
Frontier going with a bat over a bird for this DLC theme (an open goal to add tropical parrots) feels scarily accurate.Imma throw a curveball here and say that Islands and Children's Zoo are what we WON'T get...
