Gunner = Arcade Action Cam for the 12 yr olds?

To be perfectly honest, I tried it and found it awkward, ungainly and inelegant. Difficult to actually hit anything and since a lot of your displays are taken away, situational awareness is not good. I'm not sure it provides that much of a benefit.

One immediate problem is that a MC ship can't have turrets engaging separate targets - which automated turrets can.

It is patently obvious now that they come up with something they think is fun, implement it in the easiest way possible and only (usually after we point it out) do they think about the reality of it. It seems they go on those streams and just make up the handwavium on the spot. Magic invincible invisible camera drone. Give me a break!

There have been plenty of reasonable suggestions on how it could be done without magic. They just take a little bit more effort it seems.

I got a slap on the wrist for daring to compare their approach to western gentleman who ride horses and are often compared to less diligent tradesman so I'll simply place this here....

It's a really confusing decision for me. It's like they ran out of ideas of how to get this going and just went with... well, the Gunner. The lack of depth tells me they just wanted to get some kind of multicrew out as fast as possible. It's mostly all combat stuff too, which kinda jips the other roles. And don't say now miners can have fighters cuz no one's gonna give up a cargo rack for a random person who might help effectively.

On that note, they should really make matchmaking wings a things, though they'd have to fenangle it through the ship transfer system.

It doesn't have to be instant data transfer. I think of it as another ship's computer downloading your consciousness that then acts autonomously. Maybe that comes with its own issues but it works for me.
