Guys, I don't want to alarm you...

Meh, I figure they're already all over the place and it's not so much that they're moving towards Earth, more that they're choosing to emerge more frequently in that area of space. Given the way they slide in and out of hyperspace it's possible they don't even have a concept of distance in the way we do, given that it doesn't map 1:1 to real space. If hyperspace is their natural realm, and their hyperdictions are the equivalent of our hyperspace jumps (temporarily moving from one to the other because it serves a purpose) then concepts like jump range might be meaningless. They see a human ship transiting their domain, knock it back into normal space where they can interact with it, do whatever it is they're doing then go back to where they came from. They could probably pop their entire fleet into Earth orbit if the fancy took them.

"Sir, the coordinates they have set - they are on a direct course to sector 001. The Terran system."

"Earth!"

Don't want to pop your bubble but the interdiction is scripted, you just have to be 100+ly from the bubble to initiate it. It doesn't matter where you go.

Well, as long as I know no player can fly an alien ship and pull another player out of hyperspace while jumping to a new system. So I guess the answer is: "There are no PVP hyperdictions".

(Interdiction = Normal miniplay of pulling a ship out of supercruiser. Hyperdiction = alien stuff that in theory should not happen)

This is a very serious matter, because if there are going to be PvP hyperdictions, FDEV better start working on a PvE Only No Thargoids Open mode , or else I'll be triggered, because interdictions are the same as sexual assaults :(

:D :D

Idiot boosts into a station and dies. Oh my, if only the station wasn't there and then they wouldn't have died.

Problem isn't the station. It's oblivious to our situation. Same may be true for the unknown aliens. It's the bright spark boosting into one that triggers the result. Presumably without a shield.

Would matter little if it was an alien. A station. Or a rock. :)

I'm not sure you can claim this to be an aggressive act. Do you think about all the organisms you impact when you walk? Or clean a cup? No. They are as irrelevant to you, as likely we are to the unkown ships scanning us.

It is not unlike us picking up a previously undiscovered butterfly to study it. Is that an aggressive act? Well it depends on point of view - doesn't it. To us, it's idle curiosity. To the insect? Who knows. Probably not it's preferred outcome.

We are likely just a curiosity to the unknown. Certainly at most something to scan, and move on.

If they truely want us dead. We will die. But that's not much of a story now, is it. :)

Actually the first thing I did at work today was rescue half a dozen ants that had strayed into my glass of water. I am pleased to report that after cleaning themselves they trundled off, apparently unharmed.

But I'm a biologist, so I do think about the life all around me, yes. And pretty much any wild animal that you grab is likely to interpret it as a hostile act.

I thought Earth was a sh*thole...

:D S

Just a friendly warning, I got a two week forum probation for using a very similar "swearword" in a way that the filter couldn't detect. I think I replaced the s with the dollar, the h with a hash and the i with a ! And the t with a plus sign.
mods were NOT happy.

These...things...oughta remember that I don't get into their business. I've only ever picked up unknown fragments, for engineer, but I'm quite paranoid and wary of the mystery. Seeing the reports like a regular bubble dweller is actually pretty fun in its own way. For now, I'm happy to be one of the only Commanders still moving Imperial Slaves around. The old routes have been devoid of other players and supply/demand stays nice and high :)
