Recently I saw what seemed to be some kind of hacked messages in the system chat of Shinrarta Dezhra. In fact, when googling about it I stumbled across someone's video about it:

At this very moment I'm in the Huangais system, and I noticed that there's something like 50 fleet carriers with the name "BUY ARX NOW", all with serial numbers starting with "G6M-". I don't know if this is the only system where there's such a flood of FCs with that (or a similar) name. I doubt that any legitimate player purchased about 50 fleet carriers just for this. The owner name is "VALIDATING", which I don't know is something in the game, or an actual "commander name".

Your screenshot shows decommissioned carriers so I guess it's a problem that's going to go away soon anyway.

You can use the report player function in-game to point out any activity you think is dodgy & FDev can look into its legitimacy while you get on with your life.

Interesting. I suspected a bug in the UI for the fleet carriers but even inara lists them!

The owner name is "VALIDATING", which I don't know is something in the game, or an actual "commander name".

The FC owner goes to validating if you reset your commander with a FC, I remember testing this in the alpha.

Other than that, the lack of html sanitization on the output is pretty disturbing I guess and opens up all sorts of other vulnerabilities too.

Can't tell if you're serious or not but Validating isn't a real person, it's a placeholder name.

There was an issue with Xbox player's names showing up on PC and Playstation versions. So most systems that were discovered by a Xbox player just shows up as validating on the other game versions. Now since console Elite is dead and that version forgotten I don't think FDev will be fixing the issue ever. lol

Interestingly this post mentions VALIDATING with fleet carriers as well. It seems some things never change.

Yes but still a real person, which is what I said. I know VALIDATING is a place holder. The backstory on that is disappointing but it is what it is.

Ironically, both the system chat and fleet carriers are visible even in solo mode, so you aren't being shielded from either of the things I mentioned in my original post.

Well, if you had said that to start with, instead of making it sound like an unverified opinion, people might have listened to you.

It is possible someone did take it once though and then reset their commander.
