Had a bit on an explore...

This took me a long while in my 40ly DBX.

What best now to do with that exploration data?

I've unlocked Marsha (5 overcharded multi-cannon), Selene(5 Thermal Resist Armour), Felicity (5 - sheilded FSD, maybe I should go long range), The Dweller (4 - overcharged burst laser), The Blaster (up to level 4 for overcharged mutli-cannon), Petra (maxed out at 4 with Hull reinforcements), Elvira (at level 3 for clean drive tuning).

Any advice?

You can use it to gain reputation with any faction that controls a dockable asset where you can sell explo data to, it will also increase that factions influence within the system you sell the data. Drip-feed it in over several days rather than selling in one massive lump to maximise the rep+ & inf+ potential, you can do a lot with explo data selling it tactically.

Not looking to start a war, just looking for the best faction to sell it to to get the best engineering advancements.

I have a couple of thousand systems to hand in (and I'm not on my way back yet), along with other biological, geological, and codex discoveries. This starting a war malarkey sounds good.

Hint: When coming back into the bubble or Colonia, go to Single Player... I lost 3 weeks of exploration just because a CMDR felt great when he shot me down just for fun. Lesson learned.

If you have Elvira - sell a part of your data to Sirius Corporation. If you're allied with them, that should get you the Sirius permit (if you dock with them at "allied" within IIRC 20 ly from Sirius). That permit together with the recommendation from Elvira will get you access to Marco Qwent, who in time will unlock Prof. Palin.

Only thing you need after getting the invitation from Marco is to find 25 modular terminals. Have fun.

There's a few permit locked systems in the Bubble. The data could unlock a few of them quite easily.

Of course all of this is correct, however...

If you get yourself blown up while drip feeding over several days - you will lose all the data you have not yet sold.
