Hang on; I recognise that.

There's an unusual instrument in the Elite: Dangerous soundtrack that sounds almost, but not quite, like a steel drum.

It's a hang*. It looks like a flying saucer, it's made by one man in Switzerland and he only makes 30 a year. Here's some more of them featuring a sneak preview of atmospheric planets.

* It's a type of handpan.

I'll give them credit.

Elite Dangerous OST is fantastic.

I first hear it 15 seconds in. It then plays a significant amount but right back in the mix. It's most clear in the final bar when it comes out to the front.

Thank the powers that be, I'm not the only one who knows Dead Can Dance.
Lisa and Brandon were so amazing together.

Still a favorite.

Oh yes. They tour so infrequently that I've only ever seen them twice. But when I saw them in 2005, Brenden introduced Salterello with "And now for some mediaeval rock-and-roll!" :)

They're off on an extensive tour of North America in the spring, with the delightful Agnes Obel for support. I was strongly considering a trip across the pond for one of the shows..

Well you're in for a treat, you certainly won't regret it! Especially with Agnes along with them. I'm just hoping they also decide to do Europe at some point this year :)
You could have heard a pin drop when Lisa did "Sanvean".. she has the voice of a choir of angels.

Last time I saw DCD was... 2004 maybe 2005? But I've been listening since the late 80's. Lisa is amazing, especially when she sings in her own language. Such energy, such emotion... she's a force of nature really.

Very nice ppl. I recall when I was in school in the mid 70's we had an in-school assembly to watch some travelling steel drum players. Their steel drums where made from 55 gallon steel barrels. They showed how they made them and the sound was amazing, new to me, and had a wonderful sound like no other. The lead person was from Trinidad and his accent was also very interesting. One of the few in-school events I enjoyed way back in the dark ages.

Thanks for sharing. Brought back old memories.
