Happy Guests!

Right now I have 0% litter, and it's been like that for quite some time now, so it seems to be working really good for me :)

One of the first lessons I learned in this game is the importance of trashcans and benches.
This is one area of my zoo, and when it comes to benches and trashcans, almost all areas look like this;

As you can see, there are never more than a few meters to a trashcan, and even though it looks kinda ridiculus, it works :p

I also divide my zoo into workzones (usually one zone for every staff member, or group when it comes to shops).
Right now I have 12 janitors (they are apparently called caretakers in english) in my zoo (see pics above), divided into 6 workzones, two for every zone, all of them fully trained. I also make sure that they have access to at least two staffrooms unless the staffroom is in the centre of the workzone. And I always choose the "staffcare/healthcare" option (not sure what it's called in english) for all staff rooms exept the ones used for shop staff.
This is one of the workzones for my janitors/caretakers;

Hope this helps :)

Do you mean Caretakers or Mechanics when you mention Janitors? Once I've tried to make a Workzone for Caretakers but for some reason it didn't work

I mean caretakers :) I always have workzones for all my staff, including caretakers, and I have never had any problems with it :) what kind of problem did you get when trying to create a workzone for your caretakers? and what things did the zone include? As you can see from the pic above, I make sure to include all the buildings in the zone I want them to work in ie all shops, habitats, toilets etc

It was some Weeks or Months ago, so I don't remember what exactly was included but I think there were 2 Staff-Rooms in the Workzone and they did nothing. Maybe it was bugged when I tried it

Really cool to see how you handle such an amount of guests so well!
Mine are also very happy right now, always around 93-95 %. But I have a small zoo and guests are limited to 3000, so my shop areas can handle that well. As long as my zoo is profitable, I won't increase that.

Anyways, I wanted to share this funny glimpse of guest AI logic. Why go to the viewing area right next to the glass barrier when you could also stand 20 meters behind, looking at a tree and unfinished staff facilities instead? Guess what, they judged the view of the gharials to be just "okay". :D

Thanks for the reply! Not sure it'll help in my case, though, since I have bins and fully trained care takers everywhere as well but guests keep throwing their trash on the ground right beside the empty bins. And well, the AI that has 5 care takers at once run to empty one and the same bin while ignoring all the litter on the way isn't exactly helping either -.-

There should be ONE care taker assigned to do ONE task, not ALL of them at once while everything else is ignored.

Have you tried making the workzones smaller? Do all the five ones running to the same bin have the same workzone or are they in different ones? and if they are in different ones, do those workzones overlap?

They have workzones and it's just the food court, no overlapping. And it's a thing I noticed in several zoos not just the one and no matter the workzones/no workzones, seems like it's just how the game assigns them and sadly it's anything but efficient.

Ye, seems very stupid indeed, especially if they have workzones, think they should stick to them then -.-
Then i have no idea sadly. Seems like we are doing the same thing, not sure why it works for me and not for you :(

Yeah, no problem and thanks again anyway :)

I set up even more workzones now and still had all the caretakers in that zone going to the same bin instead of getting assigned to different tasks.

And the main problem ATM is this:

There are TWO bins right there and yet...better throw it on the floor so we can complain about all that litter later c:

That's pretty much how it is everywhere in the zoo right now and it's really frustrating 'cause it's the only thing they actually complain about and even though I'm between 93-95% happiness ATM I really wanna get that little bit more.

Same Problem in the Main-Room of my Reptile-House. There are Trashcans in every Corner and even near the Galapagos Tortoise Enclosure in the Middle of the Room and the Floor looked like a Dump

I think I found the reason for all the littering and it seems like it doesn't have anything to do with the bins or caretakers...it's fast-forwarding time. Like when I let the game play at normal speed there's no litter problem whatsoever but as soon as I fast-forward the guests start throwing litter everywhere.

So now I only let my zoo run at 1x speed and this is what I get :)

There are still waaay more food courts than should be necessary in a zoo (I got 8 with 5-12 shops each ATM), but I guess there's no way around it if you actually wanna have happy guests and make a decent profit as well :/

hmm that seems odd. Maybe with the higher speed the guests are running so fast that they miss the trashcan when trying to throw the litter in it :p The only zoo where I go high speed is in my tiny breeding zoo for the flamingo challenge, so haven't noticied that problem
