Hard Points - list vs location

When I'm in outfitting I find it quite difficult to tell which hardpoint is where on the ship - for some reason the graphics on the right just don't register well with me (for certain ships anyway).

Is there a good list somewhere showing which hard point in the outfitting list relates to the location on the ship?

Cheers.

Also relevant and self-promotion
Caught that in the thread, but thanks - useful.

Maybe it's a "boomer" thing but I struggle to understand where the various hardpoints and utilities are on a ship in the Outfitting page, especially with the big ships that fill up the hangar and remove any context from the location.

Remember, back in the old-days, when there used to be a glowy-orange picture of your ship instead of your CMDR's "portrait"?
It used to be possible to spin that little glowy-orange spaceship around with the mouse, like the loading screen.

It might be nice if there was, perhaps, a little circle with a small glowy-orange spaceship in it, somewhere in the corner of the Outfitting page, and as you mouse-over a module, utility or hardpoint a bright yellow dot would appear on the little glowy-orange spaceship to indicate whereabouts on the ship that module is located.

I'd settle for a wireframe with the relevant HP/Util slot flashing.

I mean if nothing else it's just wrong! It implies that the weapons get replaced while they're inside my ship! HOW DOES THAT WORK?!?!

The outfitting screen needs to have a rotate/pan option so we can see what we're looking at. It's bad on ships like the type 10.
The shipyard should also have a way to click "hardpoints" and have some colored dots follow the rotating ship model where the hardpoints are. It's frustrating buying a ship only to figure out later that the layout doesnt make sense. Plus it would solve the problem that THE SHIPYARD DOESN'T SHOW WHAT SIZE HARDPOINTS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE SHIP, JUST WHAT COMES STOCK AND WHAT'S EMPTY. This has bugged me from day one, and it used to not even show the empty slots, which means somebody went in and "fixed" it a few years later and still left this glaring issue.

This. Not everything need to be over complicated.

TBH, the reason I suggested the spinning ship was cos that used to be in the game so I assume (!) it'd be easy to repurpose it.

Anything would do though - just some kind of representation of the ship to give you an idea of what you're looking at.

I bet I could post up pic's of me outfitting my T10, in particular, and nobody from FDev would be capable of identifying all the utility points and hardpoints.

Alternatively, if they could make the hangars bigger and then give us camera PTZ control, that'd be smashing.

Or, make the ship smaller. The OP has a very valid point, you have to guess where utilities/hardpoints go. And it would make great improvement for choosing ship kit parts.
