NOTE: If anyone can help me embed an imgur album, please PM me! I don't know how to do it
All,
About a year ago, I started work on the Hogwarts Great Hall, thinking I'd eventually want to make a Harry Potter theme park, and then didn't do much with it. Since then, I've dabbled here and there, on and off, and finally got back to creating. So, I present the beginnings of Harry's Wondrous World, a Harry Potter theme park. I'm hoping making this thread will keep me honest and up to date, so that I continue to work on it until it's done. Importantly, my computer might crash before I finish (as there will likely be hundreds of thousands of scenery pieces used in the end product), but we'll see what I can do. The landscaping will hopefully be last on the list, so pardon the weird terrain.
I know that many people have already created Harry Potter themed stuff, but I wanted to not just make a re-creation, but a live, walk-through recreation complete with internal scenery and rides. I want guests to be able walk through the castle and experience it, not just look at it from afar. With respect to the castle itself, it's important to note that the castle changes throughout the movies, as many details about the layout are left out of the books. I'm using a multitude of sources to craft what I believe is the most accurate depiction of Hogwarts as I can. Some stuff is left to the imagination, but overall I'm hoping it will be quite accurate and that the scenery will be very, very close to model representations that were used for the movies.
Park entrance:
Walk through Privet Drive, into a subway system, and emerge on the streets of London.
London: 60%ish done; lots more buildings and scenery and touch-ups needed
The main attraction is a winged rollercoaster titled "Attack of the Death Eaters." It swarms around the city, and will eventually go in and out of buildings. The entrance is located in the Ministry of Magic, whose exterior is meant to look like the British Ministry of Defense. Also in London are a bumpercars and ferris wheel, as well as King's Cross Station, which of course houses Platform 9 and 3/4, where guests can catch the Hogwarts Express on a journey across England to Hogsmeade.
Diagon Alley: 0% done
Not build yet. Will house shops as well as an underground rollercoaster that travels through Gringotts.
Hogwarts: (5% done)
The largest area of the park, complete with all of the details the game will let me get in. As described above, I tried to make it as accurate as possible. I want to have at least one ride that captures a major point from each book. More details will come, but so far the ride list contains:
1) A completely indoor rollercoaster, that I kind of created on a whim (pic enclosed). Not sure yet what I want it to be, but I really wanted to make one in a super tight space, and I think it looks neat. Currently named "Flight of the Pixies" from the scene in Chamber of Secrets where Lockheart lets the Pixies out in DADA class.
2) The Timeturner: A reverse incline launce coaster (I WISH I COULD REVERSE THE WAY THE TRAIN FACES
) that will take guests from the clocktower, out of the castle, and into the Shrieking Shack, only to send them back the same way they came.
3) Journey through the Chamber of Secrets: a coaster that drops you from the top of Ravenclaw tower down into the hidden bowels of the castle and through the Chamber of Secrets.
4) Dubledore's End (name in progress): A vertical drop coaster that hurls you off the top of the Astronomy Tower.
5) Possibly a coaster that takes you through the Room of Requirement, not sure yet.
6) Various thrill rides, including a "Potions Class" (pic enclosed), Transfiguration, etc.
7) Quidditch Match: dueling coasters (not sure of the type yet) that battle their way across the Quidditch PItch.
8) And possible some sort of inverted coaster that takes you through and around the castle.
Hogwarts will also contain various places of interest, such as the Great Hall, which serves as a cafeteria for guests (pics enclosed).
Hogsmeade: 0% done
Not sure if there will be any rides here, or if it'll just be for show.
I didn't want to enclose a bunch of pictures and take up a lot of space, so here is an album. Apologies that I can't add descriptions to the pics themselves, but hopefully you'll be able to get an idea of what everything is.
Ok, jk, I'm having trouble embedding an album. Here is the link.
