Ships Has anyone fully upgraded their T9?

So I've been toying with the idea of trading in my Python (temporarily) for a type 9. The type 9 however does not have very good jump range, even when "trade fit". As such I'm toying with the idea of going the route of a fully upgraded T9 meant to be as survivable as possible when attacked. Full A-Grade with milspec armor.

My curiosity is whether or not anyone has bothered fully upgrading the T9 and more importantly if they are willing to share details on the ships top speed, handling and survivability with such a fit.

Here is a fit I'm considering...

I know by the current "standards" of trading this fit is considered inefficient. Especially for those who play in group/solo. I however only play in open and would want this ship to be as survivable as possible. Something that if a pirate interdicted me in it they'd have a story to tell but I'd still have a good chance of escaping.

Here's another fit.. dropping it from 500T cargo to 484T with two A3 shield boosters.

That said... I do have the weapons mounts filled entirely with mine launchers..... Does anyone know if these are a viable defensive weapon to spam from a T9?

I tried the mine launcher thing..and it did not seem to effective..the medium mounts threw the mines kinda rearward..but the small mounts tossed them in front :)..lol, and the AI pirates seemed to avoid them easily..still had to rely on boost run and general ruggedness.
I changed out with a fragment cannon turret load out on all points with a couple beam laser turrets and that worked out well the next time I delt with some smaller pirate ships..eagles and cobras..

Still run away is best. lol

Complete waste of time, you are better getting a trade conda for that kind of money. I will toughen up my T9 but purely because I will use it for mining in the future.

You don't need to toughen the ship up if you play in Solo, since you play in Open all those upgrades are pointless. Avoid being interdicted by cmdr's, that is the T9's only real defence.

I've specced mine all A with beam turrets. Against NPCs that was enough to collect all bounties up to Asp. I didn't get armor though. 12ly jump range laden is bad as it is, armor would have worsened that even more. On a mining T9 it might make sense.

I have seen a video from a T9 with missiles on all hardpoints. When interdicted he fired full salvo on the attacker ... only scrap metal left...
Was fun to watch.

That was before the missile nerf. Missiles used to be the trader's best friend, unfortunately the usual bunch of cheaters forced FD to make them useless against shields.

WTH, T9 as a miner? How long would it take to fill that cargo space?
I always thought the Asp is around the right size for that, combining maneuverability and a cargo hold not being too big.

I wouldn't bother with grade A life support. If you are in a situation where you need it to reach a station you are unlikely to need 25 minutes of oxygen. I've never used anything above D for life support and Sensors. No idea what benefit grade A sensors give but every fraction more jump range helps.

Noone is probably going to bat an eye of this, but how come the anaconda thats 400 hull mass can haul over 400 tonnes of cargo and still jump further than the t9? Im so annoyed when i discovered this. T9 is 1000 hull mass but only 500 cargo... It shoulda been like 750 atleast? I realy think it should have more hardpoints and maybe more "2" slots for minor stuff.

My T9, the Saviour's Haul, no shields, no insurance. No upgrades. Hopefully as long as I don't crash it tomorrow we'll be good. I love buying ships before I have the right build for it and upgrading. Doing it without insurance is just my way of being an idiot.

don't wanna break your fun or anything, but i really don't understand why would anyone buy a T9 instead of an Anaconda, the price is not that different, the cargo is almost the same, but the anac has a strong shield, strong weapons, twice more jump range ! and a lot more potential

i speak about the utility and the stats of course, not about the look or the sentimental choice

maybe the T9 can do something else i don't know ?

Yes I would agree If I could only afford one big cargo ship in the game. I use my T9 for normal hauling, Anaconda for community goal hauling and exploration. Still, I would say I am biased towards the T9 mainly because of the Oculus rift, that massive open bridge, and my main money routes are all close together.

Btw, price wise they are not similar, my T9 fitting is 140 million, my anaconda is 250 million and not anywhere near properly outfitted.

Regards

yes but the two spec of the OP for the T9 both cost 245 millions

can't speak about the view tho, never flew one

Yes, but as I mentioned both of his specs are a complete waste of time :) Nobody in there right mind would spec out a T9 like that for trading.

The base chassis cost is 76 vs 147, which is a significant investment for the large percentage of players. A well specced Conda can run to over 700 mill cr.

I'd rather use an A6 shield. It costs 32t of cargo space, but gives 30% stronger shields (with 2 shield boosters). If you want to sacrifice 8t more, you could still carry a 3A shield cell bank, and surprise some pirates :) Something like this.

With that configuration, you might probably drop the bulkhead upgrade too. If your shield goes down, your subsystems (thrusters, powerplant) will follow quickly, regardless of armor, isn't it so?
