Has anyone got a (on foot) commander into space?

I was thinking about the time someone got a SRV into space and into a space station.

Has nobody managed to do the same yet with an on-foot commander?

I guess a station might be too much, as you'd probably run out of energy/air, being limited in what you can carry, but maybe into orbit by piggybacking on a spaceship?

EDIT: Does a SRV have to be on the ground to disembark? Get a SRV into space then disembark?

You can temporarily do it if you glitch out of a station by getting the still existing panel bug or by hopping off the bookstand at an Apex. This way I've managed to fall out of surface port concourses and walk on the surface without a helmet on.

Does that happen as soon as the ship moves, or when it takes off? If the latter can you hop on to a hovering ship?
I've tried a couple of times by jumping on top of Orcas at tourism ports while they're landed on their pads and waiting.
When those ships begin to ascend, you don't die instantly, you start to go up and for a second it's a thrill. But about 2 seconds later and high up: DEAD.

I’ve ridden my Krait Phantom up to its despawn point several times, and even landed alive after several long minutes of falling. I haven’t tried it with another player though. The safe spot seems to be on the glass canopy and a little to the side. After the ship despawns you keep going up a bit, but I never found a planet with low-enough G to reach orbit solo. I recorded a couple videos but… well they’re a bit dull to watch :)

the trick to landing alive is keeping your decent slow with the jetpack, and using a full burst of it when you get very close.

I once encountered the terminal bug and it resulted in me falling through a planet, the opposite of going into space:

Everytime we tried taking off with an SRV on top it gets tossed off after a few seconds
We tried it a couple of months back... and failed. It's definitely more difficult to get SRVs into space. I know it's a while since we did it but we were one of the first groups to get an SRV into a station, so it's not that we don't know what we're doing

My guess is that it's been knobbled by the FDev fun police
