Has E:D been "parked" by FD, is it in what developers call maintenance mode?

Well, space flower, I didn't know it would trouble you so much that I detest the most boring and stupid grind I ever encountered in my spare time but you're free to submit yourself to RNG-driven repetitive gaming as much as you like.

I'm no Thargoid.

As for what you do and don't like, you have demonstrated to my satisfaction that the game would be lessened if you were in charge.

You do you, I'll be over here having fun.

I knew it was you taking that photo :D

So how long has Error: Orange Sidewinder been trapping people in normal space? I'm stuck in Merope. Can't jump out of system and can't jump to supercruise either.

I'm currently parked on a FC in a power capital and see Orange Sidewinder a lot (enough to feel a bit 'trapped')- its putting me off playing really because its a lottery if I can take off again any time I'm near or on an FC.

Engineers and the power creep is useless in itself. No one needed it. No one asked for it. It's only purpose is to tie players to a boring, convoluted, overly RNG-dependent loot chase that was arbitrarily introduced with little afterthought, no semblance of any care to balance, bugged and so out-of-touch to the requirements that it drove aside what ED was originally about and forced itself as the new defacto required gameplay. A cheap RNG rouletto instead of flying a spaceship around.
I understand you don’t like Engineers in general and that is fine. But I think the RNG part of the critique became obsolete a long time ago though.

Each material can be found in very specific conditions, for the most part, and in case of urgency or exception you can use traders. As for the upgrade results the variability in rolls is actually so minute that they might aswell have them at a fixed value.

I mean I am sure Engineers can be criticised from many angles but RNG is probably not a serious one anymore.

The RNG of rolling the upgrades did get adressed, but that is only one layer. The acquisition part is still full of multiple layers.

It isn't parked or in maintenance mode. We've just had fleet carriers.
We have just had Fleet Carriers, but they were 18+months delayed, and clearly scaled back and simplified from what they were originally designed as... Another example of a feature pulled just before release, delayed, and poorly designed.

There is a big release coming. The development team are working hard on it. Dev diaries are starting soon.
Can but hope "New Era" finally delivers some bar raising content, but here we are nigh on 6yrs down the line and the biggest update in years isn't seemingly to the core gameplay, but to add a whole new Eastern Front of FPS pewpew. ie: Another whole area of the game to try and create meaningful, engaging and balanced gameplay for, when personally I'd prefer to see that effort put into the core gameplay experience...

Don't believe the hyperbole.
I'll base my views on:-
a) The experience of the past 4-5yrs which has seen all too many development efforts simply deliver shallow, questionable, unbalanced features, raising serious concerns over the design and management of the game, as well as what 100+ people are doing...
b) What "New Era" actually delivers... Finally some bar raising, engaging and well designed content? Or more of (a)?

EDO is going to be the litmus test, since (EDO) been the backstop for any delays for other prior content. Given FD have sacrificed huge amount of goodwill getting here, it has to be Horizons + Beyond + more in scope to win people back.

Not especially. What often happened was (on loading) the load time would be much longer on an FC than off, and 50% of the time I'd time out to the OSOD. If I flew to another nondescript system loading would be normal and no OSOD.
Interesting, seems like the fc's might be adding to already full instances which might explain the delay but banana is no expert.
Are there problems when leaving a station or just flying around when in a busy system, less comman maybe?

I did not check that far really. The biggest problem for me is loading into the game for the first time, after that its length of instance transitions near FCs in FC systems (even one FC is enough).

I can see an issue of parking an FC near the main station to annoy people this way.

I call it some of the best content in the game. Guardian sites are fun, I run them repeatedly with new players when I get nothing but the fun of running the site again.

That's what I'm pointing to though. I find that activity rewarding in its own right. Others just want the unlocks with a button or something.
I did not question the design of the sites themselves or the task. I questioned the need for repeating those tasks in ordner to unlock new items. Even if they were insignificant, cosmetic items, the path to acuire them would be a lot better, if there was more than a single task to meet the requirements.

However you collect as you play and you have the option to focus on specific stuff. Still people fuss.
Actually, besides mission rewards or mining, you have to stop doing what you are doing and awkwardly collect stuff in a quantity, that makes it even more tedious.

My question to them is what part of the game do you enjoy? If all the game activities are "grind" what do to want?
It is not the activies per se, it is the need for repeating the exact same process over and over with very little variation, if there is one at all.

Then again it doesn't need more than one type of ship, or module, or modules at all.
Right, additonal content is needed to make those items relevant. Just having an option for the sake of it, is not a solution. If Engineers only served the purpose of being an option, without any tailored content for the player to make use of their upgraded ships, well, let's say there would be lots of room for improvement.

Edit:
Space legs were always part of the plans for the game. And why would you walk around unarmed and completely vulnerable? This update can't come fast enough, the game really needs it.
Please enlighten us, how is adding a completely new and unrelated framework of mechanics a benefit to the existing problems in the game?

The rarity classification of the mats are completely arbitrary and additionally, the way mats are being spawned by conditions created by BGS, made some mats basically unobtainable or at least not practically useful to specifically look for them. You are better off finding six times the quantity of another mats with the same rarity grade. This design might be working but it is not particularly great.

Yea, some have abandoned theirs as they can afford to.
One other guy had issues with only 2 in system as well.
Anyways, thanks for reply and i should scurry off before i upsets the mods too much by derailing thread.
Happy eatings.

to me, the intention behind the lie is irrelevant. I don't care what excuse they gave for lying.
No intention, no lie. You seem to confuse the reason for lying with the intention to say something you know is untruthful aka telling a lie.

Or are you seriously calling the weatherman a liar if the weather won't match the forecast?

Umm. FDev said they intended to include a feature, then realised during development that it wasn't possible, explicitly announced that it would not be in the game before release and refunded people who requested it.

Hello Games said a feature was included up to and including release when the game literally didn't even include code to deliver that feature and as far as I'm aware, refunded nobody.

If you call the first example 'lying' frankly you're broken.

You may think you did, but I think trying keeping track of 150 ingredients and their "very specific conditions" to drop in the game is equivalent to RNG.
If you wish, I would be glad to wing up with you and 'assist' in collection of manufactured and raw materials - I can even provide you with a list of surface sites (all the same layout) to scan for data (good for trade) to bolster the data gained from scanning every ship you see :)

You would be most welcome to join me in a Haz Res site armed solely with collector limpets, in an hour or so I think you would be stocked well enough to visit a trader for 'interesting' bits.
