Has there been a mutiny?

True, I blame 'us', not FDev
I've said the same thing. This is a tough crowd for sure.

But over the past month, I've begun to agree with the OP. Feels as if something's happened internally. And just now Paul Crowther posted a "Content Roundup - January" thread and I immediately clicked on it hoping for Elite info - but it was about Warhammer something or the other. So all the other IP's that FDev either are developing or publishing are getting content updates except Elite.

No streams, no news, missed delivery dates with no explanation or apology and virtual radio silence from the CM team other than Sally. I do confess to wondering what a "community manager" does if not actively "managing" a "community." But I digress...I hope to hear something ahem "soon."

I think FDev realized that keeping saying "we're fixing existing stuffs, we got nothing new for you", even though it's true, created more frustration in the community than the opposite.
Yes - I'd accept this if they hadn't - in December - said: we have a buncha stuff for you to get excited about in January.

Even just a: "Yeah, we said January, but we meant Feb" would have been fine...

And the thing that is really puzzling to me is that Fleet Carrier interiors are literally already in the game...so the hold up on those can't be the modeling work...so what is it? I suspect something really small was missed that has turned into a big "this isn't going to work" thing and has stopped development. If I had to guess, I'd say something around the carrier jump and CMDR's not being seated or something.

Yeah, you got a good point there. On the other hand, they've been crunching and perpetually struggling with their schedule since last year. So I'm not surprised that they struggle more and more to communicate about this.

Could be.

My guess is that the CM team are all huddled in a dark room muttering to themselves: "Odyssey on Console when? ... Odyssey on Console when? ... Odyssey on Console when? ..."

Judging by the stock market report, management probably have them neck deep in rearranging plans for upcoming year, the old internal roadmap is in the bin, everything is in a state of flux, everything they'd had planned to share in January about the post-update-11 game is obsolete, and they don't want to say a peep about the new future until as much of it as possible is feasibility-studied and agreed upon.

I'd expect a mix of good and bad news, maybe weighted towards the latter.
I suspect that's pretty damn close, but I'm going bad/good balance is 50:50 until I see otherwise.

On the other hand, if they were unsure even about February, then they would have either had to say "we have a bunch of stuff for you to get excited about in Q1", which would have signified a larger delay, or come February they would have had to say "heyy, about that, we said February, but we meant March".
Better to keep silent then and hope that players won't complain about the long silence when the time to give actual news finally does come.

I envision more like someone important saying "Right, this is ready to go live, yeah?" and some dev bloke in the back meekly raising his hand and saying "Uh, there's no current mechanic in the game to force a player to do anything. How do make sure they are all seated or in their ships before the carrier jumps?"

My guess is there is more "fade to black" in our futures.

The textures in the FC interiors were bland, the info board was showing the wrong details of the FC, but otherwise they existed, true! ;)

Yes, they are in game, but from what I saw on my own, need a lot of 'polishing' to be complete, which is what I imagine has been going on in the past couple of months, that and trying to figure a way of forcing CMDRs to "SIT!" :ROFLMAO:

Unless my memory is going, this was covered in the carrier’s interiors announcement livestream - there will be a short grace period for you to sit down before the game does the close-your-eyes-and-teleport.

I think that's the real issue. Currently, the game gates you out of activities based on a time clock. You can't access certain menu items after a certain time. And that's all well and good whilst your stuck, immobile, in your ship. That's easy. But once you put the player in a 3d space where they can move, how do you force them to "not move" so the carrier can jump? I suspect they had an idea and it didn't work.

Ah, well if that's the case, then I don't know what the hold up is. I didn't watch that particular stream, but that seems like the simplest way to handle it.

My thoughts too. A little heads up that the dev update will be delayed would have been nice.

Well, the financial report for the first 6 months of the FY2022 (June-November) is not pretty at all -1.8 millions operational loss - and the losses are attributable to EDO and JWE2 launch (although JWE2 seems to slowly recovering - iirc it reached or even broke 1 million copies sold) and probably also to Lemnis Gate slow sales
So i guess they are drawing some lines and they're trying to pull things together.

Probably some organizational changes happening too (they're close to 900 people now)
Warhammer 40k launch
F1 launch

Yes. But it only takes 2 mins to write:
"FD is busy. We said January - that's not happened (oops, our bad), but don't worry though, we'll continue to release and support patches. Normal CM service will resume shortly".

They were supposed to have turned the page on TOTAL COMMS BLACKOUTS. Ah well.

Indeed.
I was expected the weekly schedule to come back no later than mid January
Also the Dev Update to happen as announced, in January.

So i guess there were some changes happening - they probably still happen.

However, it does not bother me much - i still enjoy the game. Currently building a Cutter shield tank to try AX combat zones - i tried them in a Krait mk2 cold build - my Basilisk ship - but i'm not good enough to avoid all the chaotic fire that happens in a AX CZ and i cannot get past first wave of interceptors.

I'm in the same boat. I'm happily poddering around some 44k ly's from Sol at the moment and having a grand time. I discovered two previously undiscovered Notable Stellar Phenomena and found a new plant species...well, new to me anyways.

But the lack of communication is - well - a little off-putting. We had just gotten habituated to the level of engagement and then it just falls off a cliff. Shame. 🤷‍♂️

Just like last time. And the time before that. All of this has happened before and will happen again.
