Has there been a mutiny?

But the lack of communication is - well - a little off-putting. We had just gotten habituated to the level of engagement and then it just falls off a cliff. Shame. 🤷‍♂️

Well, it can mean only one thing.
EDO is doing fine 😂

I mean we got the increased Comms:
  • as hype build-up, pre-EDO launch
  • post launch under the form of apologies, fixes, updates, short term plans (U1-U5), dev updates, longer term plans (U6-U11)

So silence could also mean that things are starting to fall into places 😂

It is a bit concerning that there are no weekly schedules, no dev updates, streams etc. Especially after the promise to improve communication after the odyssey release disaster.
It's like FD reduced all activities to the absolutely necessary only.

It's also strange that it started with the share drops at the end of the year (conspiracy theory).

Given the comms and engagement involving all other IP except Elite makes its only stick out even more.

I reckon it's because of something more fundamental than FC interior delays, if only because I don't think such a delay is really that big a deal to cause this kind of complete comms embargo (patch 10 updates notwithstanding).

The other thing that bugged me since its announcement was the fact that the very same FC interiors seem to be the highlight of 2022. Doesn't look like there's much else to look forward to, and I imagine you'd want to build some hype around the game after last year, if not simply for EDO's consoles release - if that is still in the pipeline that is.

But in all fairness, you've been around a lot longer than some of us have. This is the first time for some.
Good point. I meant to say the above more as this is how Frontier has operated for a long while, it's business as usual; I suppose I should have written a longer post.

So hey, just to be sure, for players who haven't gone through this before: Frontier has historically gone through periods of better communication (the best were the 1-1.5 years after launch) and periods of near-total radio silence. As such, it's reasonable to expect that all this will happen again. Play the game for what it is, not what it might later be or what it could be.
And now, time for me to step off my soapbox.

Here's my latest theory.

Someone (Arthur perhaps) has decided that the community was so mean to FD last year that he's had enough of it and has decided to instigate a "Hello Games"-like zero communication policy for a few months to protect "his people" from us, just pushing out the updates but otherwise giving us nowt 'cos we don't deserve it. Sally strongly disagrees with this and has been doing what she can to keep things civil but has been given very little rope (or information) to do so with.

From recent comments by Zac (who's bemused by all this but otherwise happy to sit on the fence) it seems our period of detention may be coming to an end soon(ish).

Bruce has been too busy running a 2nd business selling Sombrero hats from a Cambridge market stall to really care much one way or the other.

That's all well and good...

If you deliver like Hellogames did.

The silence game is a terrible strategy - typically - because the developers employing it often have nothing to show for it. Hence the silence in the first place. Hellogames is thrown around as a household name now because it's the 1 in a million times the silent strategy actually paid out.

Everybody else? You go silent because you have nothing to say.
You have nothing to say because you have nothing to talk about.
You have nothing to talk about because the available topics are nothing.

See the trend?

(Yes. I am salty. Lick me. I am delicious. I taste like abandoned console communities and broken kickstarter promises.)

There's a saying about turtles and posts...

I'm starting to wonder if Sally is the turtle. She's up there, we see her...Nobody knows WHY or HOW she is up there by herself.

I could support a hostile takeover, though. Anybody willing to actively tangle with trolls, die-hards, rookies, and salty jerks like me...they get my respect (and money, too, usually). I question why anyone would do what she does, but...it's not hard to respect someone both skilled and determined at their job.

I also question why you'd lead your company into developing an expansion you know won't work for two of your three player communities, but here we are.

To quote David Cooperrider, "We live in the world our questions create."

If FDev ignores questions...well, you can imagine the sort of world it creates.
You're in it.

You're so much more optimistic than I am. :ROFLMAO:

but on the other hand we cannot expect Frontier to continue introducing new free stuff to the game all the time. for my person i would be happy and satisfied if the can stabilaze the game after patch 11 and get this thing relatively bugfree and performant. adding more and more stuff makes this game instable what we have experienced in the past.
That's not even what I meant (I probably didn't word it well enough); what would be nice would be a longer term view from Frontier what their next plans are for Elite - these could be years away, but even just a rough idea what the next content will be like - both in terms of smaller free additions, tweaks, rebalancing, and larger paid-for DLCs.

I'm not expecting new content every other month, but only having FC interiors (that imo were cut from the initial EDO release, as opposed to being "new" content), which are supposed to release relatively soon, is not a lot of meat on the 2022+ bone to be perfectly honest.

And where's the AX on-foot content? It's been 8 months since release, 10 months since I paid for this DLC. It's time to deliver this supposedly feature-complete DLC ... well... in a feature complete state. Holding this back for consoles release is no longer an acceptable reason, as we don't even know if those are still a thing or not.

Well, we don't, but presumably, they do....
