Have Frontier reduced the number of AWS servers for Elite?

I know there's a rumour going around that Frontier have reduced the number of servers they rent from Amazon to run Elite. This was borne out somewhat after the launch of update 16, but this weekend I'm trying to fly my carrier to Colonia. I'm getting jump times sometimes more than an hour, and tonight people, including myself, are reporting the servers are offline completely.

What do you all think? It's a poor show if true 🙁

More players, more problems but the servers were doing okay earlier bar fleet carriers because CG.
Then something hit quite hard. Internal or external would be hard to say at this point.

Usually during the summer there are less players

I also get the feeling they reduced the budget for infrastructure and if they did, the timing matches the post analysis of the Financial Results from FY2023 that concluded by the end of May 2023 (some other budgetary cuts can also be seen in their interactions with the community - streams got cut down to 1 per month)

I do know that the reduced streams and community activity is because they're all focused at the moment on promotion for their new Warhammer game, I assume it'll pick up again in the future.

Streams are already planned till the end of the year - so no change this year
If any budgetary changes will happen, they will happen in January, after they'll finish the analysis for the first half of this FY year which ends this November

We have over the past 2 years seen a drop in Devs and CM's this is understandable it's an old game not making as much as the newer games. I can't see them coming back.
The streams have been cut back due to nothing to report the storyline is long term.
The promised reworking was put back til Dec and that was for end of the investigation and work would start next year ??
Less numbers mean they are still working on Elite but it takes longer to do stuff .
Of course this is just my opinion.
Money talks I'm afraid and Elite is no longer number 1 game in Frontier .

AWS does autoscaling. There is no need to purchase a set number of computing assets, you can have it scale up and down as needed when needed. Only thing they could have done is change scaling thresholds that allows performance to deteriorate farther before new assets are added. Though things can get more complicated in a big, dynamic environment of Elite Dangerous.

Spoilsport, don't let that get in the way of a good conspiracy!

I was under the impression the F1 players felt it was not being supported enough. Surprising, if it's their number one game.
'Box, box, box' - as quoted by Arf in ECM 19/08/23 stream on an ED meet up!

BTW that was a very funny ED (Frontier) Sketch even with the F1 Manager reference! (Hutton raw stream)

Thank you! Wrote it on the fly just before they went on stage, including gaffer taping up that set of paper sheets.

Credit to Arf, Derin and Tom for performing it cold without having read a word of it before the mics went live!

Ps don't forget that the sketch was prefixed by me saying on mic that 'the following sketch comes from the fevered minds of Hutton Orbital and in no way represents the opinion of the Pilots' Federation or Frontier. Or both.'

It was a great sketch, hilarious! Credit it to you for writing it quickly whilst under the pressure of organising and running the awesome ECM event! Thank you!
