I purchased this game the minute it was released on Xbox One and have logged a few hours over the previous few weeks. However, I've never NEVER run into another human player the entire time. Plenty of NPC in both SOLO and OPEN play. I play OPEN 90% of the time in the hopes that I'll run into another XBOX ONE player but no luck. Is the community THAT small that the chances of me ever finding anyone are that remote and random?? I mean where the heck is everyone? Any advice would be appreciated. Loving the game big time. A few freezes and frame rate issues and the occasional boot back to the title screen for no reason but I understand it's a work in progress.
Have NEVER seen another player on Elite Dangerous for Xbox One. Only NPC in OPEN play.

Is not so much the player base is small as it is the max players in any given server. Mix that with 400billions systems and... Wel.... Good luck lol. I don't know the max population a server can have. But it don't seem like much.
Space is big.
We are out there honest, its not that the community is small, its the fact that space is so big. I see alot of players around Leesti/Diso way.

I have seen plenty of real cmdr's. However, getting them to respond to you at all is a totally different story. I have sent a message to almost every one I've come across, and only two responded.
Had a fun encounter tonight while hunting around a nav beacon, I was taking out wanted npcs with the Fed security ships when another player appeared.
We started scanning each other then began a weird game of flying close to each other deploying then retracting hard points trying to get the other person to shoot first but I refrained because he wasn't wanted and neither was I.
It was fun but just flew off in the end

Which systems are you primarily flying in? I find that this has the largest impact on whether or not I see other commanders. While bounty hunting in Kremainn or Erevate I see a lot of other players, particularly when docking in large spaceports to turn in bounties. It seems players tend to be in specific pockets of space where there are opportunities for money making, HIRES, conflict zones, rare trades or good shipyards or outfitters.
It's a shame. It takes for too long to send messages over xbox, thus noone responds. Deep space is lonely.
you can use a smart glass app... ipad, pc... which will give you access to a real keyboard to type on

Yeah seriously, game is essentially still in beta on XB1, and when you add that with the fact that only like 0.1% of systems are occupied by civilization your chances of running into players is slim. Honestly if your trying to find players join a Faction in Power Play and hang around that factions capital system, I always see people flying around in Eotienses which is in empire controlled space.
Try the rare trade areas, Power Capitals and starting systems.
Think we all started at Erevate. I was hanging round sol but not many people about there. I headed back to Kremainn and the rez site had 5 cmdrs there. 3 of us winged up for a bit it was good fun. Seems most people are staying round there.
Find a system with rare goods. You will see plenty of CMDR names, seems they tend to swarm where the money is..
