Have PvP'ers Dealt a Fatal Blow to Elite Dangerous?

Watching the forums these past days has been fascinating. And I am beginning to see an obvious pattern.....
.
The "solo" crowd are the ones complaining, and the PvPers are shouting GIT GUD, Wing Up care bears. ignoring the FACT, that a great chunk of this player base has ZERO interest in PvP combat or open play..(Play your way was a lie I guess)..............but to those players who wanted an intellectual science fiction game where they could mine, trade, explore and use their "Imaginations" it is no longer an option...you have to fight, there is no shade...everywhere is a war zone or a failed sate that can't control their space ways........this has pushed a lot of people away from the game, more people to combat log, more people to rage quit on the forums......they wont be back to buy the next expansion......Of our group of four, none of us bought "Horizons".......Driving the player base away is going to hamper the financing of development.......and it reminded me of something else PvPers have done to hobble the game..........
.
When I first started playing, I suggested that FD open a shop to sell ship and weapon upgrades, just like Star Citizen who have, lets face it, blown the world away when it comes to raising development cash....but the PvP crowd, shouted Noooooooo!
as they felt someone with money ...could buy an advantage, please bear in mind that I played solo only........still, the PvP crowd shouting won the day, and they cut off this possible avenue of extra funding to FD because of their PewPew beliefs.....Not caring about the game or its development but the "competition" they get from PvP........Dumb move Frontier but I am sure you are still kicking yourselves over that one.......people are quitting every day because of the GRIND to their next ship.......but, you got to keep those people with no money but lots of time, happy..... :)
.
And then I thought back again, to when we didn't even have an external camera.....FD had created one of the most stunning graphic and technical achievements in Game history, with the creation of their Galaxy Model......Damn it looked good, but
could we take pics or video of our ships in the rings with a controllable External camera and help promote this amazing achievement??.....Nope....do you know why? because once again the PvPers were crying that an external camera view would give a tactical advantage in Combat.....(Again, I play in SOLO, but the PvPers just cant see past their own noses.....)....it MUST be Cockpit view only, they said...........so for the first 4-5-6 months? that the game was released all people saw on YouTube was the same boring cockpit view and people doing boring jousting combat on a black background....(Or "THAT" Promo).......we could not show off the true stunning beauty until someone at FD used their brain and listened to the people passionate about the Elite project, and put one in.......of course, the PvPers were wrong, and the addition of the camera changed nothing tactically......but it sure as hell changed things visually.....
.
And the PvPers responses on the thread about the 13 year old boy who is crying because the game he was playing and enjoying is now unplayable for him, the responses were simply disgusting and no doubt firmed up the minds of many to give this game the shaft......FD and the PvPers seem to be just focusing on Combat now and in love with each other so we can see where the game is going.......I am amazed the MODs let that happen......
.
So, is it about time FD stopped listening to these PvPers who only speak of "PvP Competition" and who are driving the payer base away and costing you money??............, and instead listen to the people who are civilised and care about THE GAME itself????
.
I have spare money I would love to spend to help develop a great and British SciFi game....I thought this was it.........but, you aimed for the lowest common denominator, and I for one, will not pay any money for this cliché FPS game you are working on now....... (drops Microphone)

A large number of people from all walks of ED did not want FD to sell credits and/or other modifications in a cash shop. A lot of us voted / created posts / lobbied FD to raise extra revenue via cosmetics - it's what we have today.

Had zip to do with the "pew pew" pvp crowd

<mic drop>

BUT, you also knew that there was a 'safety valve' where people could go to avoid being hunted! PvP killed their prey, the prey left...now you just have yourselves to play with! How's that working for you? Action and reaction. Think before you shoot!

That's better. I mean, I disagree with everything you say, but at least it's readable now.

For reference I'm a PvE Open player.

I understand that Solo crowds consternation. Similar to the issues between PvP and PvE, the Solo vs. group play is impossible to balance out...content must be created that makes sense for a multiplayer game. Unforutantely, there does not appear to be a way to increase the difficulty for higher numbers of people while keeping things manageable for solo players.

Solo players have choices...fight or run...play or quit. Being 'set in one's ways' is not a good way to approach a game that is under constant development....things are going to change.

What part of SOLO don't you understand....?.. The solo game is being ruined for the open PvP crowd.

You do realize the PVP players, that are left, are pretty unhappy also...RNG is anathema to their playstyle...and PvP is not being improved at all in this update.

Wow dude, this is lame.....you drop your mic without SAYING ANYTHIG......WHY did you vote against a shop to sell ships and other in game items.....WHY?.....
.
Dropping your mic and walking away without even rebutting my point don't make you look clever........it makes you look like you didn't understand the question.......

A Fatal Blow eh? Seems like we have the "end is nigh" thread of the week. There's 2 very abundant elements in the universe, Hydrogen, and people who confuse themselves with "the players"

I find the 2.1 update awesome, including the AI changes that made combat worthwhile again instead of a moronic farming yawnfest, and I'm not even a "PvPer" not even a combat-focused player, I mostly did missions and occasional exploration before. But then again I'm also not a chronic moaner, nor a person incapable to try adapting his ways in the face of new obstacles, a person who mistakes ED for some of those moronic casual mobile games where we just have to click a couple buttons every now and then while watching a movie, or one of those people who always berate changes of any kind.

The NPCs were improved not because of "PvPers", but because FD thinks it is more suitable to their vision for the game. They're the ones who advertised the game as a "cutt-throat galaxy", not "casual farming simulator". The past Ai was a bug that was fixed, and it was long past due. There's bugs to be stamped for sure, improvements to be made, as in any update, but they will sort those out. But not being able to kill countless NPCs while scratching your back and watching a series on netflix is not one of those bugs.

Your attitude is really bad. If you can't type in a civil manner to me then I will also add you to ignore.

If you're really interested search the forums - find the thread created by Sandro raising a poll about cosmetics around 2015.

Read the comments.

Nah. FD are very well capable of doing that themselves if they want. Now they haven't, they've merely turned the central paradigm on its head, abandoned various old premises and basically turned the game into something very different.

Mark my words. 2.1 is our NGE.

I'd learn basic grammar and sentence structure before I queried the intelligence of others, if I was you. Or to put in the words of Jules: English, do you write it?

In before dyslexia claim.

Is that short for New Game Experience or just a code for noogies? Cause noogies can hurt. ;____;
