Spending money on ED is like buying a house: it's expensive as hell but massively MASSIVELY useful, there's not much else you can spend money on that you'll have as much use for. Ever.

So if you divide the total cost of ED with the number of hours you spend not in the pub or not buying new carburettors for your 65 'stang just sitting there in the garage, it's... well, it's good value for money let's just agree on that.

edit
but no, I didn't tell her what any of it cost either :p

I have dropped more on ED than any other game in years. New GPU- £400 plus, new sound card- £80, new headset-£60, Premium Beta-£100. The only thing Ye Olde House Dragon baulked at was the X55 that arrived on Thursday. I told her it was a birthday present and technically it was, from me !

My partner knows gaming is my hobby and ofc I told here about Elite and why I bought a new joystick and she sead fine have fun.

I let my 3 year old fly around alittle, he really enjoyed that both inside a station and in an asteroid belt, can't let him fly around in the thick of night were there is nothing too see right.

I didnt lose my ship but I got a nice repair bill :)

There's only 2 options in the poll? If you are married, your wife should respect your hobby. If you pay for that with your own money it's your choice. She's not your boss.

Marriage isn't worth it, because the divorce rate is too high, the family courts are corrupt and biased against fathers in almost every western country.

No-fault divorce: if your wife cheats and you divorce, you would still lose half of everything, pay a fortune of alimony, child support and get very little time with your children per month, while she broke the marriage contract.

There's plenty of stories of guys lives which were ruined after divorce and they could not see their kids. (Fathers 4 Justice).

In the United Kingdom the corrupt family courts and biased laws created an epidemic of broken families and dysfunctional youth without fathers:

Fact Sheet The key facts about family breakdown and fatherlessness in the UK.

“A generation of children have been denied their human right to a meaningful and loving relationship with their fathers” Matt O’Connor, Founder, Fathers4Justice

200 children lose contact with their fathers every day in secret courts.
(Fathers4Justice)

1 in 3 children live without their father.
(Office of National Statistics)

3.8 million, Nearly 4 million children are fatherless in the UK.
(Office of National Statistics)

£44 billion is the cost of family breakdown every year.

since my wife burns three times more than me on games (i'm more the type of "buy a single game and spend years with it"), no problem here :D

I consider myself lucky: my wife fully endorses my gaming hobby, as long as it doesn't monopolize our conversations :)

I bought a 3000€ Alienware gaming rig in january and since I depleted my 2014 gaming budget with it (well, went much over it), my lady bought me the X52 Pro. She was convinced it was for my flight simulations only and that I would be "ok" for the rest of the year.

When I saw Elite Dangerous PB, I said "**** the budget" and bought it. Of course I showed her the game and how far it went from its 1993 incarnation. She was amazed.

But did I tell her how much it cost? Hell no. :D I don't want to wake up in a card box, under a brigde, with my Alienware and X52 as only belongings. And no internet connection to play ED!

I still tend to tell my wife everything about Elite :) but most of the times she looks at me with a face like...hunny, how old are you? And then im like noooo ED is different because lasers and planets and all kinds of awesome stuff and SPAAAAACE and then she looks away :p.

My wife doesn't give two craps what I spend my money on. We have a joint account for bills and food, and the rest is ours to spend on whatever we want.

Ofc We also treat each other to meals, nights out and that as well, we try to take it in turns.

My wife is very chilled. :)

Were did i see your Avatar before is it from the Atari ST version of Midwinter? (1989)

Time to get on to Kickstarter to raise money for a marriage counselling service. I wonder if DBOBE would want to contribute given all the trouble he's caused? :D

Am I the only person in the world who has a joint account and joint credits cards? Marriage (or long term relationships) are a partnership I really hate the idea of "my money, your money" just seems very odd.

I understand many couples do that but in our case it seemed sensible to avoid putting all our eggs into one bucket. "My account" is as much hers as mine, the reason why I'm kept accountable for "my" purchases.

and why should i not tell

this game will be played by a couple of types
1) the newbies who will spend a little
and
2) old fogeys like me who can afford to go out and buy what ever it takes
this may be a wee bit alien to some folks but in the light of a new porche \ audi\ aston martin trust me a£100 game and a £600 computer is peanuts

so hey ho lets go and enjoy its only a game

BTW a couple of days salmon fishing is circa £ 2000 currently

and today I only spent $8 ish dearest
honest

realy honest

I knows you come on here and have a look at what im doing

naaa it was $8 honestly look in history I bought voice attack
