having trouble finding stations to dock in

The tutorial doesn't tell you that you have to face a certain direction to dock. At least not clearly.
Took me quite a long time to figure that one out. But figuring stuff out was at least half the experience.

Yep, I've become quite adept at the last second 180 turn to land correctly in outposts, all part of the fun.

You'll usually have better luck in the large stations if it's a problem of too many players in the instance. They have more landing pads than outposts which only have 6 or so.
And make sure you're facing the control tower - just yaw until it accepts your dock if you land facing the wrong way.

Its a bit of a cheat but if the docks are full dropping out of open into solo mode clears the port for you.

I only do that if I REALLY need to dock. Like when something like this happens:

I panicked when I saw the "Docking Request Denied", so had to go Solo to dock.

If you mean on outposts, you have to be aligned correctly (nose facing the floating pad number). If you approach from 180 degrees opposite you can still land but never dock.

aha that was it i didnt know u had to be facing a certain direction thank you!

and the tutorial doesnt tell u that u need to be orientated a certain direction

Choose a faction (Preferrrably one allied to whoever gave you the mission)

Then half the ships will turn red in the scanner. Kill them.

If you can't choose a faction it's a bug, kill anyone and claim your mission rewards (You wont get bonds).

about this, ive gone to the correct window but i cant seem to choose a faction. do i have to be in the warzone to choose?

Face the control tower, or the number. The number on the dock is always the direction you need to face.
Also, look at your landing assist radar, you need to approach from "south" going north.
If you're facing north to south, you're facing the wrong way.

Trust me, do it enough times, it becomes second nature.
I boost around in my 80 million credit ship like I stole it when I land. Just hang in there.

yes, factions only matter once you are within the conflict zone itself (And there is a bug which could prevent you choosing a side even then).

Don't worry about folks telling you to read the manual - there's a huge amount in there to find, and you're right, I don't think the 180 degree thing is. Ask away.

hey um im trying to get further away from the starting systems but i keep running out of fuel and having to self destruct. i cant find any stations along the way or if i do they wont let me dock.

Are you travelling in real space or supercruise? To get to another star system you need to be in Hyperspace.

Get to 7.5 km or closer to the station and request docking clearance. If denied wait a minute and try again. If fails try going to solo mode and request clearance to see if that works.
.
The only time and I play in the Mobius group is when I am at an outpost and the dock is full. I wait and see the ship launch, request docking and land. Give it a try in solo and good luck.

can anyone pls suggest what to do to get credits when ur just starting out. i tried combat and got blown up 3 times.

stock sidey in a low intensity zone should be able to kill a few ships before you need to bug out and repair... I would suggest upgrading your shields, weapons, and power unit if you really want to use a sidey for combat bond missions :)

I prefer to use a tooled up cobra and no doubt in time you will get one of them :D

i'd suggest running a few missions...avoid combat til you get a little gear and get the hang of the mechanics :p
exploration's a fun way, too - but you're pretty limited by your FSD in the beginning.

Where are you right now?

Anyway, in Outfitting, many stations offer a Fuel Scoop. For a sidewinder you probably want a class 2Cish fuel scoop, which would be plenty.

I would upgrade to an Eagle when you have enough credits. Combat was much more enjoyable when I got one and it comes with twice (not much) the amount of fuel of a sidewinder.
